Bolton is awesome. **** all the pre-draft bullshit. You put this ****er on the field, he makes plays. Give me 21 guys like that with Pat at QB and we'll win another couple Super Bowls.

It will be interesting to see if Bolton and Gay can stay healthy. We might see a bit of a shift to LBs being the strength of the defense, which hasn't been the case since Houston, Hali and DJ were around and we were running the 3-4.

Archie Bunker 03-29-2022 03:09 PM

Patiently waiting to see if he makes the switch to 32 before buying the jersey.

Love how people bitched about us drafting a LB, when our run D was trash and our LBs we're trash.

"It's not a position of value!", people were saying. The **** if it isn't. We've had good D lines, good secondaries, but have lacked good LBs. Now we got 2 studs on rookie deals that only cost us a couple of 1nd round picks. Hell yeah!

I was Bolton all the way. I was utterly shocked he said that far. :D

Not gonna lie though. I had no idea who Creed Humphrey was.

I’ve got 2 Montana’s that I probably haven’t worn in over a decade. I’ve got a pro bowl L Johnson, a black Dante Hall, a red, and a white Holmes (don’t be jelly), a red, a black and a yellow Mahomes, a white Kelce, and that god damn Peters jersey. Like what am I supposed to do with it now? Throw it away? And I hoping my kids haven’t purchased the jersey I asked for next yet. Bolton 54. Birthday is a month away. Hoping I get the tattoo gift card this time....

Gotta be honest. The only ones I’ve worn in the last decade are the Mahomes and Kelce. I’ve buried the pre Mahomes era, and the pain that came with them. Maybe I’ll dust off my pro bowl Johnson this season. I don’t remember the mojo it had last time I wore it, and I don’t want to **** up our 2022 SB season by picking the wrong game day jersey.

Yeah, you might be best sticking with Mahomes and Kelce. They have been pretty good luck over the past few years.

Most solo tackles, season: Donnie Edwards, 114 (2000)
Most solo tackles, game: Eric Berry, 14 (2014)

Bolton will break both of these team records. Maybe this year.

smithandrew051 05-14-2022 11:10 AM

Within 2 years, Bolton will be the unquestioned leader of the defense.

Similar “Coach on the Field” to Hitchens, but actually good at football.

Nick Bolton
Kansas City Chiefs · LB
If you haven't paid close attention to the Chiefs’ defense, you probably missed out on a rookie sensation who is poised to become a household name in 2022. The young tackling machine quickly emerged in Steve Spagnuolo's defense with his instincts, awareness and play-making skills repeatedly showing up on tape. With Bolton flashing All-Pro ability as a sideline-to-sideline defender who logged 112 tackles as a first-year starter, the football world could soon find out about the league’s next great linebacker.

He should easily crush Edwards record. He finished with 112 last year and didn’t even start the whole season.

Even games he did start he was underutilized.

I mean it's the weirdest thing but also he didn't get injured so maybe that's okay?

We never have to worry about seeing Nieman again. Instead we have a human missile in Chenal.

I expect this team to be impossible to run on, including pesky QBs.

I think the linebacker corps is what I'm most excited about on the defensive side. They have a chance to be a real strength for the first time in years.

Brady won't happen. He will tuck & roll whenever a LB gets within 5 yards.

Halfcan 06-09-2022 07:15 PM

Bolton has been hitting the Juggs machine working on his hands. He knew he needed to work on his catching skills after dropping an easy INT against the Bengals.

Would be great, but it seems more likely to me that it’s a scrambling QB who doesn’t keep his head on a swivel.

Like, say, Josh Allen!

I will never let myself live this down. I can't believe how wrong I was about this guy, he's going to be our best defensive player.

His ability can't be measured on athletic scores, he's one of those rare guys who just keeps making plays. I thought he was too small and too slow. Nope.

Nah, everyone gets at least one free pass, especially when you post the misjudgement and own it.:thumb: I liked the pick but I got why people were concerned with the athleticism.

But it feels like every year there are complete athletic freaks at LB that get drafted pretty high and then struggle. OK Parsons was an immediate stud but guys like Isaiah Simmons looked kinda poop. Just seems like IQ is way undervalued at the position and I've no idea why given how much the role requires.

Mizzou Fan HATES Mizzou players as pros, but literally every one of them would have told you how awesome Bolton was, regardless of his "scores."

Bolton was going to be a monster from day one; there really wasn't much ambiguity about it.

I think the Tennessee game is where national media really started to notice how good that kid is. He completely neutralized Henry.

I think it was the Alabama or Georgia game where he laid out some major hits.

Dude's instincts are as good as it gets.

I love watching him sniff a play then explode to the ball.

He switched jersey numbers? Glad my kids didn’t get me that one for Christmas then.

I appreciate how Veach just got rid of Sorenson, Hitchens and Nieman so Spags just can't play them. Because he would.

This might be the only decent post you’ve ever had.

You are like the Michael Jordan of baseball of posters. You exist and get attention for some reason.

His ability can't be measured on athletic scores, he's one of those rare guys who just keeps making plays. I thought he was too small and too slow. Nope.

I mean, if you're going to be wrong, that's a pretty ****ing great way to be wrong.

Megatron96 09-01-2022 11:14 PM

I'm glad to say that I was wrong in my initial assessment of Bolton. Like many here I thought he wasn't big enough and lacked a top-tier athleticism necessary to be anything more than a journeyman LB. What I guess i didn't account for was his work ethic and his football IQ. He may well be the Chiefs defensive QB for many years to come. And long may he reign!

spags is jacked

I've never seen Spags damn near giddy talking about a player like that before. The guy has doe eyes, for ****'s sake...

Seriously - anyone that's in an IDP needs to scoop this kid up. He's going to be a damn monster. I don't think the season Leonard has as a rookie is out of the question at all; 160+ tackles, 10+ TFL, 5+ sacks, a couple picks, maybe a score in there.

I think he'll put up numbers that make it impossible to ignore him in the 'best LBer in football' conversations. He's just going to fly out there.

imagine adding ray lewis to a team with mahomes

10 tackles, 1 TFL

James Conner: 10 carries for 26 yards.
Eno Benjamin had the 16 yard run, but only 12 yards on his other 3 carries.

Murray and McSorley each had a long run (21 and 14), but otherwise combined for 14 yards on 6 carries.

What a fu@king amazing draft pick by Veach & Co.

Our D is becoming a lot like those Patriot Defenses.

Bolton looked like Bolton. Guys gonna be as steady as the sunrise.

Gay really seemed to stand out, though. Bolton just did all those Bolton things; always where he was supposed to be and making the right decision. Gay's athleticism, OTOH, was on display in a big way. He seemed to be truly sideline to sideline.

duncan_idaho 09-12-2022 09:49 AM

Even as a Bolton/Missouri fan, I was a little skeptical of the pick. I wasn't sure his instincts and processing speed would translate at this level like they had in college, but he's making me look stupid for doubting that.
