Oh, yea. They also have a great sea urchin ceviche.

Bryce Van Patten was just mentioning this.

No, I think they may have Chowder at LJS, Donger.

Would you go and procure some and report back?

Simply Red 05-02-2012 06:18 PM

exactly, regarding Red Lobster, it's not slop - but it's far from sensational.

QuikSsurfer 05-02-2012 06:18 PM

Never eaten there.. But I also prefer Diet Pepsi to Diet Coke -- especially for mixed drinks.

That's asking a lot of someone who just ingested the amount of food he did.

Don't laugh, but believe it or not, Red Lobster has an acceptable lobster bisque. It's not spectacular, but it's surprisingly good. Although one must forget the fact that it's probably been on heat for a good few days.

Costco actually sells acceptable lobster bisque. Only store I know of that you can actually buy it.

But for the good stuff, you've got to aim high. The best I ever had was at Ruth's Chris.

Couldn't you just eat around the clams?

My favorite soup. But you need to go to a really good seafood place or steakhouse to get the good stuff.

Well...shit. I am going to have to open my wallet. Stand back. I don't know what's in there.

Really? I didn't know that. I'll have to check that out. Thanks.

The best bisque I've ever had was at some seafood joint in Austin and some place in SF. Bristol's in Leawood is also very good. Mine gets better every time I make it, but I think that's mostly Courvoisier.

If it's more of a soup maybe I'll just try making it myself.

Try the Costco stuff first. You'll probably love it since you have nothing to compare it to.

Not unless they have clam chowder or lobster bisque, no, it will not.
