I agree with you chiefsos about Brad Paisley being cute too often. I am a fan anyway but he's at his best imo when he does something more serious like "Letter To Me," "Whiskey Lullaby," or "He Didn't Have To Be." Love first first single "Who Needs Pictures" too. He's also one of the best guitarists you'll find.

cardken I'm totally with you on Kim Perry too. She's freakin adorable and I love her voice.

My all time favorite song. The Oaks sadly don't perform this song anymore. They stopped doing it after long time band member and short time Oaks member Steve Sanders commited suicide. Duane Allens voice is so true... no pun intended.

There's way too much agreement going on in this thread. Someone needs to get called a dumbass, and soon. Heh.

Dr. Johnny Fever 06-27-2012 06:51 PM

The Oaks are still doing it and doing it well... sounding as good as ever. This is a single from their cd that came out just last year and it did get some radio play even up against the young bucks on the air. Video feautres youtube sensation Keenan Cahill. Kind of a modern day Elvira I suppose.

Yes I know. Steve didn't come along until years later as far as joining the group although he played guitar in the band for years before that.

I loved that WLG came back although the circumstances at the time where terrible. I've had the good fortune of spending some time with the Oaks a couple of times and had a conversation or two with WLG which is among the highlights of my career and life really... he's kind of a hero of mine... as the whole group is.

My favorite group. My first concert.

I wish someone would tell Richard Sterban that his hair nowdays looks horrid tho. He was MUCH better looking when it was short

Dr. Johnny Fever 06-27-2012 07:16 PM

One of William Lee Goldens solo singles. As I said I've always been a huge fan of him personally as well as with the Oaks. I dig is "mountain man" style and his philosophy on life, music, art... in fact he's quite a painter and does a lot of it to pass time while on the road. He's quite an accomplished artist on the canvas as well as his music career.

And I want a beard like his.

Go to the office, the work's piled up
pour 3 fingers bourban in my coffee cup
and cry on my best friends shoulder down the hall
feel so lonely when I close the door
bite my nails and I walk the floor
and straighten Miss Emilys picture on my wall

Look out my window and what do I see
nothing but pain looking back at me
and all that my future seems to me
is tossing yesterdays love out into the wind
and straighten Miss Emilys picture now and then

I'm not a big Miranda fan... I like a couple of her songs as pointed out earlier... but her new one is kind of a guilty pleasure.

"Fastest Girl In Town"

I've heard that Danica Patrick is going to be in the video for that one. Good or bad? Who knows...

OK, Doctor....I'm gonna try something here. This is a song from Miranda's current album that sounds old-school, like it could have been from Reba back in the day, or maybe Patty Loveless (who actually does sing harmony on this one, and she's unmistakable). Let's give 'er a whirl.

I like it.

I've heard the Danica thing too but to my knowledge it's not confirmed yet. It would make sense.

Heh. You're a guy who...knows things.

23 years in radio. 14 of them in country including the last 5. If I don't know a few things then I'm an idiot. It's no big deal.

Dr. Johnny Fever 06-28-2012 10:45 PM

In my head I've always sang "everybody dies naked in a small town." I change lyrics like that.

To me, songs that sound different from the norm are interesting. I'm not even a huge fan of the song or Josh Turner for that matter, but this one always gets my attention because it just doesn't sound like anything else that I've heard.

Josh Turner is differnt from other stars of today in that not many people sing with his bass (other than Trace Adkins) and he does his own style of songs. Scotty McCreery is trying to be the "new" Josh Turner.

If you don't already know them I'd suggest "Long Black Train," "I wouldn't Be A Man" (cover of Don Williams classic), and "Me And God" by JT. His current top 10 hit "Time Is Love" is good too.

edit... oh and "Another Try." Great song.

I still love you anyway Lump.

Was it the Shania video? If you don't like Shania, you're a commie. :p

Check this one out Chiefsos.

The reasons I'm alone I know by heart
but I don't want to spend forever in the dark
I swear next time I'll hang on for dear life
if love ever gives me another try

And here I was, convinced that Josh Turner was the "new" Rick Astley....

Pretty sure I've heard 'em. Sometimes I can't identify one by the title, until I hear the tune and go, "Oh, yeah..."

Shania is a hottie and that's what she has going for her. IMO she almost single handedly ruined country music.

But this thread is about sharing and respecting other people's tastes and I respect that you like her Lump.

Oh and that Alabama song is about the 85th best song they ever did as a single.

:D

I still love you Lump.

:)

I might get blasted for posting this one, but I feel that it deserves recognition. Whenever my son and I watch the movie, "Bolt", we sing this song...

I declaired Easton Corbin the new George Strait on the air. This guy has it. His first 3 singles have gone to #1... just 56 to go match King George.

His debut...

Gorgeous song by Easton Corbin. "I Can't Love You Back" as in I can't bring you back to life.

Why ya gotta bust my balls like that? :harumph:

LMAO

chefsos 06-28-2012 11:25 PM

You know, whenever I think of an Alabama song, even though they had a metric shit-ton of hits, I think of the blonde chick in this video. The scene at the 3:00 mark made my jaw drop.

Because you're my favorite and you know it and you can take it. Do me a favor and listen to Easton Corbins "I Can't Love You Back" then compare it to yours.

:)
