Tornado Watch for the Kansas City Area

Lot of potential for severe weather today. Everyone be careful out there.

ptlyon 04-17-2013 10:29 AM

Make sure to crack the windows in all of your trailer homes

Dayze 04-17-2013 10:33 AM

not to be sick and twisted ('twisted'....Get it? ), but I love severe storm season.

granted, I won't if one is every bearing down on my house; just the overall weather perspective etc. I find it interesting.

and before anyone flames me, 'no', I don't enjoy seeing any carnage.

Mr. Laz 04-17-2013 10:34 AM

Organic storms are a lie.

I used to as well, til I started owning shit

Dayze 04-17-2013 10:35 AM

need to ban high wind tornados.

bevischief 04-17-2013 10:36 AM

It's just Andy Reids' stomach rumbling.

If you live in Joplin, this is, not so much....

Dayze 04-17-2013 10:41 AM

yeah; again, I'm not talking about liking it from a 'let's watch the damage'. Simply find how the weather works up leading up to it etc. Just find it amazing.

of course, I wouldn't find it as amazing if I'm getting sucked up into one. at least not with out my phone so I can tweet everyone.

Never know, might be able to meet some cool midgets & make some porn

Dayze 04-17-2013 10:46 AM

if I got sucked up into one, I'd definitely text/tweet Katie Horner.

+1

It's an interesting time of year. This cold rain we are having now could help limit the amount of severe storms later. Southern Kansas and Oklahoma look to be the bullseye today.

Predarat 04-17-2013 10:48 AM

Things are suppost to get pretty bad today, the storms may start kicking off after lunch.

Dayze 04-17-2013 10:50 AM

my poor dog; he's going to be all screwed up today while in his cage. Hopefully his sister can calm him down.
we usually have to give him Benedryl when we know storms are coming.
fully expect him to follow me everywhere and sit/lean next to me all evening.

I was going to say that I had a pretty healthy apathy toward storm season until Joplin. After decades of living in Kansas, it forever changed my perspective on tornadoes.

Be safe, everyone.

Storms are welcome to go elsewhere. Believe me. Don't care to see office and house lost inside 3 minutes again.

Nothing wrong with this..I am the same way and I'm from Joplin..always loved storms

starting to go chasing sometimes whenever possible

If you lived through Joplin or any other major tornado, one might not be as enthusiastic. Just sayin'................

Get your dog a Thunder shirt. It sounds dumb, but it works.

Old Dog 04-17-2013 11:27 AM

I agree with Dayze. Had the back half of our roof ripped away by one in 2008 and still find it amazing, and kinda cool.
The coolest thing was that the roof over the dining room was gone, but part of the stuff in the room (including on the table where I had been sitting working on bills) looked undisturbed......freaky stuff.

I've seen those lol. thought bout getting it.
usually I just sit on the floor with him; he either lays down or sites between the legs and I sort of either hug him or put my legs together to he's tall tucked in etc

These work for my pal Mr. Doggity. He swears by them. If you have a pre teen girl at home, their t-shirts fit medium to big dogs just about perfect. It calms them down for some reason.

loochy 04-17-2013 11:32 AM

OMG NOT A WATCH!

JoeyChuckles 05-18-2013 10:24 PM

Tornado watch right now in KC until 4AM. And the worst part may come in Sunday evening/night.

AndChiefs 05-18-2013 10:47 PM

Just send the royals out there. You won't have to worry about anything hitting the area.

Demonpenz 05-18-2013 10:48 PM

I will just hang around Alex Smith...there won't be any touchdowns around him.

Bump 05-18-2013 11:02 PM

man I used to love tornado weather.

I would sit outside and watch the crazy force of mother nature. I was always intrigued by these massing storms. Never scared.

I wouldn't go chase them, but I would always want to step out and see if I could get a peek at one.

Was at a GF's house back in the day during that Lawrence, KS tornado around 2003 or so (give or take?). My ex GF threw a panic attack and started crying cause I ran outside. It's like bitch, I wanna see the ****ing tornado shut up, we're over

You need to be a storm chaser or weatherman:p. But I totally get your point. Weather is absolutely fascinating:thumb:

A good site for anyone that wants to watch live chases today. Since this is so close to KC though, you may just have to look out of your window.

JoeyChuckles 05-19-2013 01:03 PM

And a tornado watch was just issued for KC until 10PM.

He'll I'd take baseball hail at this point. My wheat is a joke and the corn is just barely up. Plus it's moisture.

tk13 05-19-2013 02:42 PM

Yeah I see this on my Twitter feed. Spotters are reporting a tornado near the Wichita airport. Good luck out there.

BryanBusby 05-19-2013 02:49 PM

Jesus. Last time I was in Wichita I stayed in a motel right by the airport. That's about the third or fourth time since I stayed there that I've seen a report of "tornado near the Wichita airport."

Christ, I'll never stay there in the spring, that's for sure!

ct 05-19-2013 03:13 PM

No tornado reported for a while in Wichita, hope it picked up before heavy populated areas.

BryanBusby 05-19-2013 03:14 PM

One about to touch down near Edmond, OK

It looks hella nasty too

ct 05-19-2013 03:22 PM

Next time someone asks you why are people so religious in the midwest, ask them, "have you ever seen the finger of God F5 tornado?"

We now offer vacation tornado chasing tours that are drawing visiters from europe.

Ceej 05-19-2013 03:35 PM

Parents just live south of Wichita in Haysville.

They've not heard of much damage, some slight damage in Clearwater.

That same storm is heading towards us in Topeka. Woooh!

Weather Channel has a tornado forming live on camera via a local station north of OKC. Looks like it might be a big one. Amazing footage.
