Marcus Kemp is like Julian Edelman but in reverse.

He will rise to the challenge.

They need to bring McQuay up from the practice squad.

no it's just that's all the data on a guy who's never played safety in College nor the NFL - it wasn't for optimism.

Worked fine in Remember the Titans.

It seems to me we've done that before, maybe in the late 70s or early 80s. Can any of you old-timers remember? Otherwise, maybe it's time for O'D to take a few snaps.

I took a tour of all the practice squads the other day and there are a bunch of safeties out there ... well, maybe 10 or so.

Don't know how good they are, however. Or if they would ... you know ... "fit".

Point is, there are people out there that have played the position since high school.

I think we gave Deron Cherry a tryout as a punter, and he didn't make the cut. And then someone said, hey, didn't you play safety in college too?

And BOOM he became a Chiefs Ring of Honor inductee. I had always hoped that he would get into the HOF through the veterans committee.

Cherry went on to be named to the Pro Bowl 6 times, he was an All-Pro 5 or 6 times, and has 50 career interceptions. And he was named to the NFL 1980s All-Decade team.

So, who knows what could happen.

Random thought but why don't we look into Tyvon Branch. Knows the system, isn't trash, and will cost next to nothing for a cheap half a year rental. He's coming off an ACL but I mean it's worth a shot if Berry is out and our options are a 6th string WR

Why Not? 10-10-2018 10:47 PM

Good. Anything to keep my boy Marcus from being the guy whose job it is to down punts.

Yeah. It may have went something like:

Reid: Look shitbag, you’re asshole on a stick for Special Teams. You’re hands are so bad you should be a DB.

Kemp: OK coach. Sorry coach.

*Kemp walks into the DB room.

Sutton: Cool. Veach got me a safety.

This is all a misunderstanding.

Patriots may not punt once. Bill will go for it on fourth downs all night. Our defense sucks and is beat up. Andy may as well go for it as well if we are near the 50.

Sassy Squatch 10-11-2018 05:42 AM

Utterly pathetic that Berry can't even be bothered to suit up and give it a go.

staylor26 10-11-2018 05:49 AM

I’m pretty sure Murray will play. They would’ve moved McQuay up or signed another safety if he wasn’t going to.

tmax63 10-11-2018 06:35 AM

I was always told that DB's are just receivers with bad hands. He knows the route trees by now and if he's willing to hit instead of being hit then why not? Knowing KC's system he might adapt faster than an outsider. Just saying.

nychief 10-11-2018 08:05 AM

Deron Cherry was signed as a punter.

TLO 10-11-2018 08:11 AM

LOL, I told that to a friend that was a DB in college. He didn't think it was funny. BTW, he's unsigned but he's in his 50s, so he may have lost a step. Yes, Cherry was a punter, but that's not the one I was thinking of. FTR, Jerrel Wilson was a punter that also was a RB in the early days.

O.city 10-11-2018 08:19 AM

The way things are going in our secondary, they may pull Donald Washington or Mike Brown out of retirement to play safety again for us and they were the worst two we ever had.

They were dark toast and burnt toast! :shake:

Sofa King 10-11-2018 08:58 AM

Beef Supreme 10-11-2018 09:39 AM

We are snakebit at safety. All we had to do was THINK about getting Earl Thomas and he broke his leg.

FloridaMan88 10-11-2018 09:39 AM

Mahomes/offense is going to have to score 50 on Sunday night because Brady is going to light up Sutton's depleted defense.

The Franchise 10-11-2018 09:42 AM

Of course it would only be fitting that we lose at NE in the playoffs because Berry sat out long enough to lose out on HFA.

Now this is an interesting thought ...

I imagine that the active players are getting a little damn tired of EBs break-down speeches by now. I know I would. Suit up or shut up, man.

When he comes back, there will be an enormous media "Hooray!!" and the Great Plains will quake with joy and thanksgiving. I don't think that's right, but it will happen.

If it does and I were one of the guys going through the post-game recovery process each week, I think I might urinate in the cold tub when it's EBs turn.

Not the best locker-room dynamic, there.

Frosty 10-11-2018 11:28 AM

I wonder if they have reached out to Golden yet. I know he threw a hissy fit and asked to be released because he wasn't getting enough snaps but the Chiefs have to be getting to the desperate stage if they are throwing Kemp out there. Golden is still a FA and at least should be familiar with the defense because of his time on the Chiefs. He also at least has played safety in the NFL for seven years too.

This reminds me of the scene in Moneyball where Billy Beane and his scout go to the pitcher's house and try to convince him to play first base. Andy Reid is like, "Safety is not that hard Marcus, is it Bob?" Bob says "It's extremely hard."
