Colin Kaepernick gets over $100 million new deal

This changes everything

RunKC 06-04-2014 02:00 PM

@AdamSchefter: Colin Kaeprnick's 6-year deal is worth $110+ million, per sources. Heavy guarantees, too. Record guarantees.

Hope Tyler Bray or that Georgia Kid with the hot girlfriend turn out well. Yikes.

ChiefGator 06-04-2014 02:01 PM

Interesting.

Seems a bit high.

Wildcat2005 06-04-2014 02:02 PM

The prevailing thought around here is Smith is better, no?

Could be $20+mil/year for Smith now

Dayze 06-04-2014 02:03 PM

They'll regret that one.

Al Bundy 06-04-2014 02:06 PM

60 mill in guaranteed money.

Colin Kaepernick was an unknown commodity two seasons ago, a backup quarterback behind a division champion starter. Now Kaepernick is a true franchise quarterback, with the contract to prove it.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports that Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers have agreed to terms on a six-year mega extension through 2020 that will pay the signal-caller up to $126 million. The deal includes $60 million guaranteed.

Kaepernick was entering the final year of his rookie contract, which was set to pay him under $1 million.

To be specific, the Kaepernick 6-year extension includes $61M guaranteed, the highest ever.

chiefs shouldnt overpay for Alex Smith. Franchise him in 2015 if they have to. Carry 4 qbs if they have to.

Wonder if Smith's agent or his ego will allow him to make less than Kaep?

Dayze 06-04-2014 02:10 PM

so will Kaep be the new 'no touch' QB much like Manning and Brady were when they signed their huge deals?

Deberg_1990 06-04-2014 02:10 PM

Wow, so what's Russell Wilson worth then?

There is no way Alex Smith would get that kind of contract and i seriously doubt he'd be dumb enough to ask.
