His 2 rings are attributable to a ferocious pass rush and some clutch throws-catches.

Certainly. He did make some clutch throws in those SB's even beyond the amazing catch. Manning at his height is right around the edge of what you need to have a decent chance at winning a SB. Flacco is the real outlier. He just had an outrageous playoff run and hasn't come close since.

You don't NEED an elite QB to win a SB but if you don't have one, everything else better go right. Including your QB being clutch in the playoffs when the moment matters most.
