In before crow hates this pick too

staylor26 04-24-2020 09:33 PM

This is a shocker but this guy could be a starting LT.

pugsnotdrugs19 04-24-2020 09:33 PM

Remmers maybe gonna get cut...

Sassy Squatch 04-24-2020 09:33 PM

Fatty yes

staylor26 04-24-2020 09:34 PM

This guy didn’t allow a sack his whole career....

smithandrew051 04-24-2020 09:34 PM

Wasn’t LDT a tackle? Maybe a similar move here?

MahomesMagic 04-24-2020 09:34 PM

Solid pick. We don't seem to care about Guard-Center-Guard

Reid is fancy but still old school.

Deberg_1990 04-24-2020 09:34 PM

Yes! Swing tackle!

Jerok 04-24-2020 09:34 PM

Let's do it OL

TribalElder 04-24-2020 09:35 PM

MORE FATTIES!!!!!!!!!

The Franchise 04-24-2020 09:35 PM

Gonna start off at OG? Or just be our swing tackle?

Jan Oblak 04-24-2020 09:35 PM

Perfect

MAHOMO 4 LIFE! 04-24-2020 09:35 PM

Easy 6 04-24-2020 09:37 PM

Wasn’t on my radar but hell yeah, there’s a new bodyguard for 15

It needed to happen in the this round IMO

BryanBusby 04-24-2020 09:38 PM

They took care of the needs with the first two picks and it's hard to argue against loading up the chart at OL some. Don't know who the **** this dude is but they seem to know how to pick some OL so not gonna bitch.

Clyde Frog 04-24-2020 09:38 PM

This kid is MASSIVE!

IowaHawkeyeChief 04-24-2020 09:40 PM

With this pick and a healthy Rankin, we should good on fatties.

Buckweath 04-24-2020 09:40 PM

Veach said they look 2-3 years down the road when they make their picks. Makes sense in this case.

Maybe the eventual replacement for Fisher or Schwartz and can play guard and swing tackle for now.

Hammock Parties 04-24-2020 09:40 PM

**** YEAH FATTIES

BigChiefFan 04-24-2020 09:41 PM

Wow. This guy has all the tools to be a starting OT. Pretty damn good value for the end of the 3rd round.

Rankin will be back though, right? He was looking good at LG before he got hurt. It wouldn't bother me if Niang doesn't start. We badly need a swing tackle and even more awesome if he can play Guard too. He can be our Cam Erving except without being Cam Erving.

At pick 96 a lineman with good physical tools that can potentially provide depth all over the line is nice value.

I doubt it other than being some leverage when negotiating Fisher's contract in 2022. If the Chiefs really wanted that they'd have drafted much higher up considering the talent in this draft class. I love this pick. But only because we badly needed a depth swing lineman.

JimNasium 04-24-2020 09:49 PM

Plus, LDT finally has someone to talk to.

staylor26 04-24-2020 09:49 PM

If he can start at G, this is an A+ pick.

Solves the G problem for now and potentially T problem for later.

Easy 6 04-24-2020 09:51 PM

From my main draft guide

Niang is a massive prospect, both long and sturdy. His size allows him to survive on an island. Long arms and powerful hands, capable of stopping rushers in their tracks and steering them where he wants. When his leverage is right he shows natural power in the run game, with the ability to reset the LOS. A nimble mover for his size in pass pro or moving to the second level, where the bully in him comes out when he gets a chance to erase defenders.

The knocks are mostly about a nagging hip injury that required surgery last year, and a need for pass pro refinement

I wanted a lineman in the 3rd and got one, no complaints at all

I think in a normal season, he takes LG this season and perhaps moves to T next year when they let one of Fisher or Schwartz go.

I think in this season with who knows what for TC and pre-season, we'll see.

Guys that tend to be injury-prone tend to stay injury-prone... I'm not against it if they are freak deals, depends on real nature. For Muti, it's one foot-related injury after another. I’m sure he can take Wylie’s spot. Rankin can eventually come back and take the other guard spot. Reiter as the worst starting OL feels soooo much better than Reiter as the third best starter (I think he’s better than LDT and Wylie).

Seems like a fantastic value pick and hits a need.

I wouldn’t be opposed to going DB and WR with our last two picks.

Chris Meck 04-24-2020 10:02 PM

I feel like I can say this:

We got significantly better in these first 3 rounds.

We returned 20/22 starters from the SB winning team, but i think by mid-season, each of these 3 guys are starters or at least playing 'starters' minutes.

I don’t really put much stock into it, but there are a good number of pundits that really love what the Chiefs have done thus far. They have targeted not only needs, but players that are going to fit what they do without having to reach.

Chris Meck 04-24-2020 10:12 PM

hate to be so much of a homer, but the more I think about it the more I love this pick.

I just really see him grabbing a guard spot, probably left guard unless this weird preseason ****s him.

And then next year you bump him out; and he might actually be able to play LEFT tackle, which as you know, is the hardest thing to find on the offensive line. He's just so big and nimble in his feet. I like it a lot. He's got some nasty to him too.

I'm in.

Also, Tito's #5.
