I think my colon gets excited by the smell of books
 

Seriously, you tell me.

I never realized this before, but lately I always have to poop whenever I enter a place that has a lot of books. Apart from occasional trips to the library before, I never noticed this. But for the past two weeks I've been working with student presentations, and the public library has asked to host 5 or 6 of them in their conference hall. Sure enough, after about 15 minutes of browsing through the shelves for fun, I have to go to the bathroom and it's always an enormous poop. I'm grateful for this and all, but you know library bathrooms. Icky. It's not just some nights, either. All 5 nights last week and two days this week it happened. Every. Time.

Now I went to a Barnes & Noble earlier this evening and guess what? I had to poop again.

I have no idea what's going on. It's refreshing and healthy, I must admit, but still, what the hell? Your guess is as good as mine.

By the way, we've had a lot of religion threads lately, so hopefully this one brings back the Planet we all know and love.

I always ending up needing to piss somethin' fierce in bookstores. Computer stores, too.

I wonder if it's Pavlovian?
Do you read a lot in the bathroom? That might have something to do with it. I know I want to vomit everytime I watch RSTN.

Tell me you are joking! I thought I was the only one burdened with this particular affliction. It is so bad that it has become an ongoing joke in my family. I think it is the smell of coffee and books that does it...

I'll bet Barnes & Noble has nice bathrooms. Do they let you take reading material in with you?

I don't think Barnes & Noble has too many of THOSE kind of books...

That's good to hear that someone else has this problem. It's gotta be the smell of something. If that's the case, I'm wondering why the FDA doesn't investigate to try and sell increased amounts as laxatives. Beats the taste of metamucil and you don't have to put it in the other way...

It's the flatulence.... and just when you think you're safe, and you let 'er rip... someone walks into the same aisle.

It's excitement. The bookstore genuine excites you when you walk in.

I get the same sensation at music stores.

The only time I can poop is after I go to Bannister Mall .....

I absolutely fell in love with the Barnes & Noble on the Plaza in KC. SO much better than anything here.

However, it didn't make me have to pee.

Coincidentally, I always feel the need to ejaculate when I walk into a porn shop. I've never figured out the connection.

I guess if you ever get constipated....you know where to go.

Weird, I'll have to try it.
