5th year option doesn’t matter anymore if the player is elite. These guys can get paid after their 3rd year.

He would be stupid to actually show up to OTAs before he signed a big contract. He gets injured and he could possibly wave a huge payday goodbye. Very few people here would approach this situation differently if it were them.
