They closed the one on Johnson Dr. in Shawnee which was a bummer.

Check out a couple of the small breweries we have if that is your thing. I recommend Infusion brewery. They have some really good beers to try. That is out West a ways, if you were to take in the Storm Chaser game like gblowfish recommended you wouldn't be far. And there are like 3 or 4 other small distilleries/breweries right in that same area.

Maybe the Storm Chasers will be playing a home game around that time. AAA farm team for the Royals. The stadium is way the **** out in South Omaha though. But if you have a car, it's all good.

Figured they were downtown... I guess Creighton and/or UNO use that one, along with the CWS?

Are you thinking fine dining or just good places to hit?

We are sports bar type people, but always look for hidden gems whether it's fine dining or a food truck. Especially those close to downtown or the Douglas/680 area.

Loving all the suggestions so far.

I'm assuming that with the CWS going on it won't be tough to find some decent nightlife.

Nightlife will be everywhere down in the Old Market(downtown). If you do end up staying out on I680 there is a place called Granite City Food and Brewery as well. Almost forgot about them. They have great food and beer.

You could also check out Wheatfields out by I680. Good place for breakfast, they have a bakery attached to the dining area. They have fantastic bakery items... absolutely delicious.

Aren't you getting old for nightlife? :p

I was just there (for only a night) a few weeks back. Walked over to Leadbelly at Midtown Crossing.

Good beer choices and the "Raspberry Beret" burger was damn good.

(jerked ginger peanut butter, raspberry jalapeno jam, candied bacon, romaine, red onion, brioche)

Some of the best Italian I've ever had was at Lo Sole Mio. It's worth it.

The rain forest zoo is kind of cool. One of the best zoos in the country.

Let me give you some recs that are a bit more unique but might be a bit costly.

For a really nice dinner hit up:

All locally owned and outstanding.

The Boiler Room - Old Market
Grey Plume - Midtown Crossing
Flat Iron Cafe - Just off the old Market
V. Mertz - The passage way in the Old Market

For Drinks: All in the Old Market
The Berry and Rye (Craft Cocktails)
Laca Lono - Tiki Bar
Wicked Rabbit - Prohibition Style place. You actually go in through a secret door in a small liquor to get in.

Mr Toad - Casual place to drink
Havana Garage - Cigars and Cuban Vibe
Brickway - Local Brewery and Distillery

Go downtown and walk. After a few minutes, yell Omaha! Omaha! And imidiately turn around and walk the other way. Do this 3 or 4 times so people can't tell what you're doing

I second the Block 16 suggestion. Awesome food.
