Ratt - Live in Concert
Caught these guys in Peoria just last week, one of the two Kings of the 80s LA scene along with Crue... ****ing GREAT show in PACKED house
I was 4 people behind DeMartini, got to see his brilliance up close It had it all... A fat drunk starting fights with everyone right next to me, yet never tried me His girlfriends fat sister with huge tits trying to hook up with me, and then one of the dudes I was with... had we not seen her kissing her sisters boyfriend in front of said sister, we both just might've done her LMAO Chicks flashing Pearcy their tits Ridiculous beer prices... everything I was always a massive Ratt fan, even wore my hair like Pearcy (to one side over the eye) maaan you would'nt believe how much choney I got with that doo Warren DeMartini - still regarded as one of the best rock guitarists of all time Stephen Pearcy - distinctive rock voice, you know exactly who it is when you hear him, always cool as the breeze Juan Croucier - rounds out the three remaining original members, excellent bass player with a great backup vocals voice Then you had Carlos Cavazo of Quite Riot fame taking Robin Crosbys rhythm spot, great player Bobby Blotzer? OUT for trying to sue for rights to the band name... what a dumbass, no one ever went to a Ratt show to see Bobby ****ing Blotzer These guys used to take some heat for their image, but if you listen to the music they were quite heavy... love them to DEATH, used to put on some Ratt and girlies panties would DROP Awesome full show, they did a bunch of their more obscure/older stuff, enjoy... share your favorite Ratt song, or even just go off into general 80s rock territory if you want <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/nl6x3_nJoXs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Gotta love the cameo by Nikki and Tommy from the Crue, another gem played live

Hope you had a good time, it certainly sounds like a flashback occasion with all the trimmings.
Your Ratt memories seem similar to mine. 80s were certainly a good time. |

Saw them many times in the 80's. Then a few times later with Cinderella. |
Very, very, VERY unique band from the original LA set. RATT and Motley were the undisputed kings of the early 80's rock scene and everything that came after was a pale imitation.
RATT wrote some of the most unique rock songs I've ever heard. Many of their songs follow a fairly traditional arrangement, but they also include these parts that kind of come from left field which add a completely different dimension to the standard verse-chorus arrangement. A LOT of talent in that band. |

There wasnt a whole lotta that bluesy grind with them, their stuff (thanks to DeMartini) has a much more metal flavor in many ways... I hear something more like an American, party time lets **** Judas Priest than I do straight up bluesy raunch like most Crue - Shout at the Devil being the exception - |
I can take or leave Ratt, I'm just waiting for Danes opinion along with a killer inside story. Quit holding out on us Dane!
|
Ratt and Roll - great band!!!
|
I thought about seeing them in St Charles at the Arcada.

A good pal of mine is still a big fan, he has seen them at least 5 times and gotten to meet them a few times... and they live up to their reputation, always extremely gracious to fans, never too good to talk |
On of my all time favorite bands. Seen them several times over the years.
Warren is amazing. #1in my book. |

While he and the rest of the crowd are standing outside waiting to get in, both Robert and Michael Sweet came out and greeted the whole line, shaking hands and saying hello etc |
Gotta get to bed, but first... this ones for you, alpha omega
Great choice, one of their few ballads <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ZAec33Lcp3o" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
They were my first concert back in the 80s... some band named Bon Jovi opened for them. Isn't that strange to imagine now?

I was early 13-14 years old, and my dad sat up in the stands and watched, we were down on the floor. My best friend and I mowed yards for a month to get enough money for tickets, shirts and gas for my dad to drive. That was his lone request, we pay the gas for him to drive us to LR. |

Heh, I just saw them about 10 days ago at Rocklahoma. They can still rock pretty good for some old dudes. |
Ratt was one of the first (or was it the first?) concerts I ever attended. It was Ratt and Poison at the Expocenter in Topeka. Warren DeMartini was pretty damn good. I haven't really listened to that music in years, though. This one was always one of my favorite Ratt tunes. Love that main riff.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/o1PkQsOdfdc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Obviously, that music was good but it was still glam rock or glam metal. Much of the glam name comes from the outfits. Also, nearly all their songs were about love and/or sex. A lot of people slam that style and make fun of people who listened to it. It was fans of Metallica/Megadeth/Iron Maiden, etc. vs the fans of glam metal. Perhaps I was one of the unusual ones but I liked both of them, for a time anyway. I will say that I have continued listening to stuff like Metallica and Megadeth over the years but no longer care much for stuff like Poison or Def Leopard (after their first 2 or 3 albums). |

Since we never heard of Ron Hobi- we just thought that was his name until years later, Bon Jovi came on MTV. My friends were like-"hey its Ron Hobi-I guess they changed their dumb name to an even dumber one." ROFL I have seen Ratt many times over the years- pretty solid band. I never liked how Pearcy would not sing the whole song- but hold the mic out for the audience to sing it. Watching that first video-I guess he still does it. Sad end to Robin but Carlos is a great player and more than fills in. |

I saw Eddie Money in concert last night. It was fun, but he's definitely showing his age and mileage.
His daughter is in the band as a backup singer, though. She's, uh, fairly easy on the eyes. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com...fe835f680d.jpg |

That's cute. Try the Beatles, Stones, Hendrix, Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, Country Joe, the Yardbirds, the Byrds, James Brown, the Temptations, Steppenwolf, the Doors, CCR, Eagles (backing up Linda Ronstadt), and bunch I can't remember. It may be just Alzheimer's or I might just be getting old. Those were something to remember.

They gave me specific examples but the tracks had to be at least 10 beats per minute faster or slower and be in a completely different key, but still invoke the original. A verified musicologist had to sign off on every track, to avoid copyright infringement and I had to redo probably ten of the 72. Suffice to say, many of those tracks are just killing it for us. The Def Leppard tracks are already doing well but so are the Whitesnake, Ratt, Priest and Skid Row (the Monkey Business track came out bad ass). Anyway, despite what people say, rock is not dead. |

The concert scene, outside of the superstar acts, isn't what it was 20 or 30 years ago but it hasn't disappeared and never will. EDM doesn't play as an underscore. |

How in the hell Dokken ever became a revered band I will never understand. Is Lynch that awesome? No. His tone is as generic and shitty as the rest of that band. Don Dokken? Please. Horrible lyrics and a voice that makes Rod Stewart sound "edgy" by comparison.
****ing horrible group. God-awful. LMAO |

Looks like a really fun show. I avoid indoor concerts though. Something about fire and not being able to get to the exits.

Rival Sons, Jonathon Tyler, Volbeat (fairly mainstream) and many other bands are a blast and write great music. May be a theme for another thread altogether, people posting songs from their favorite rock bands others likely dont listen to. |

In a strange twist about 5 years later I was on a conference call with a company called Lang Naturals out of Rhode Island and dealing with this asshole named Jeff Derdarian. I ended up asking another guy who worked for Lang Naturals what the deal was with that guy and why he was such an asshole. ( In more polite terms). That guy asks have you ever heard of The Station Nightclub fire? I knew what he was talking about immediately. Turns out he was one of 2 brothers who owned The Station. Word was his brother who wasn't married and didn't have kids took the fall and went to jail so his brother could stay out of jail. The Lang brothers new the Derdarian Brothers growing up and gave him a job after the fire and trial. Anyway in a nutshell the guy was a dick even before I knew who he was. |
