We should blame Darrel Williams for Mahomes injury. If he just picked up the first down literally just stretch your arm out and that’s first. And Mahomes doesn’t run that qb sneak

I wish I could tell what opinion to trust. But at least on Twitter, a lot of the med professionals seem to be saying without surgery there's decent short-term risk of re-injury (but not much long-term risk as long as he has surgery eventually?). Seems like risk of reinjury is extremely low if he opts for surgery.
