I can't fault Matheny for his decision here.

He's now pitched three times since May 28. Also, Maness and Butler got crushed last night. Mujica pitched last night, Scroate pitched the 8th, and Kelly was still unavailable due to the spot start. So, unless you wanted to roll Siegrist out there after he got five outs yesterday, who are you going with?

She got to be with her hubby full time at the end. At least that's something.

I didn't know this but after Duncan lef tto be with his wife the Cardinal players were regular visitors to the duncan household at Table Rock. And the Cardinals continued to pay his salary this whole time even though the weren't legal obligated to pay.

Class move.

Meanwhile, Clark Hunt used the lockout as an excuse to furlough dozens of employees and take away some of the very few perks of the job for concessionaires.

Here's an interesting exercise:

Assign odds to the percentage that Cardinals currently on the roster or on the DL will have their number retired.

Caveat: player must be in at least their third year of service time.

75% Yadi and Waino

90% Carp

Salas - 0%

I was thinking something similar until I checked how high the standards really are.

Yeah it would be pretty tough. I think Yadi has the best chance if he stays on the career route he's on right now.

How many times did he take some scrap heap player that they were paying nothing and turn them into a winner? He's earned that money. Earned or not, they didn't have to pay. Makes me glad at least one of my teams has some class.:thumb:

There are hall of famers without their #'s retired. Thats a pretty damn high bar.

Pepe Silvia 06-07-2013 09:40 PM

I know its not Cardinals related but Puig went yard again, any of you guys been watching this dude? Hes a beast.

BigRedChief 06-07-2013 09:44 PM

Waino and Carp will not make the Hall of Fame. How can you retire their #'s but not the Hall of Famers?

Yadi has the best chance at the hall now that he is hitting like an All-Star. He makes the Hall, his number is retired.

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-07-2013 10:24 PM

If Wainwright ends up winning 175 games (halfway there), closing out an LCS and a World Series, and winning a Cy Young (possible this year) he'd easily be the best pitcher the org has had since Bob Gibson. He's a lock to finish second in franchise history in Ks.

If Sutter's and Boyer's numbers are retired Yadi and Waino should get the same treatment (honestly, so should Carp).

I don't think Sutters would be retired if it weren't for Robinson.
