Chiefs Offseason Planet Evaluation: Phillip Gaines
How did the G-man do this year? Tell us your opinion, and be nice because his mother may or may not be reading this.
Phillip played in 14 games, making 3 starts. He recorded 23 tackles and 6 assists, and had 3 passes defensed. |
I think the knee injury in Green Bay hurt Phillips' career. He was really promising up to then, but it caused a big step backwards. I think he can play in the NFL even now, but he may have a hard time sticking with team next year with Fuller arriving and probably someone in the draft.

This thread just gave up a 3rd and long on a DPI
|
I think he should be executed.

If there’s an A+ vote here, I’m 99.9999% sure I know where it came from.

I thought for sure he'd be Colquitt's successor until he blew out his knee. Never looked the same since.

Even Phil would admit he had a rough year, the injury didnt steal any appreciable speed or quickness that I could tell... yet probably did steal some confidence, but he ended the year on a high note vs Denver C+
Slightly worse than my expectations His role will likely be much smaller, but dont be shocked if they keep him... when he is on, receivers struggle to shake him 2 years removed from the injury should leave him stable Need a 4th Spiderman |

Performed as expected Off the team Descending Pibb Extra Tightrope |
Did Mom vote yet?

I don't think we even need to have one of these threads for Philip Bartee
|
I wouldn’t trade him, I would cut his ass.
|
In summary, don't let Phillip's mom see this:
0.85 Grade (4.0 point scale) -1.12 Performance Relative to Expectations (+ = Positive Surprise, - = Negative Surprise) -2.58 Desired Future Role (+ is larger role, - is smaller role) -0.65 Ascending/Descending (+ is ascending, - is descending) 6.73 Trade Value (Round, also, zero = 2 1st rounders, negative = wouldn't trade) |
