Although Flowers has mediocre top-end speed (i.e. over 40yrds), he has ELITE short area quickness and change of direction which are ideal for a slot corner.

nfl combine 10yrd dash: 1.47s
pro-day 20yrd shuttle: 4.08s
pro-day 3-cone drill: 6.72s

for comparison
Jamaal Charles is 1.46, 4.22, 6.80 respectively
Kniles davis: 1.49, 4.38, 6.96
patrick peterson: 1.49, 4.07, 6.58
Darrell Revis: 1.46, 4.08, 6.56
Richard Sherman: 1.58, 4.29, 6.72

Flowers is very physical cb which prevents most receivers from blowing past him (which helps limit his limitations going deep), he also is aggressive against the run, and is instinctive in defending against passes which allows him to play bigger than his size.

I take the second round pick and run.

And that is why you are not a GM.

Just take a look at the chiefs history of 2nd round picks chosen with multiple GMs and multiple head coaches. most are busts.

Dorsey just picked up two stud CBs in the off-season. Flowers is a luxury at this point.

its a passing league, and its important to have more than 2 good corners. By the way, what management experience do you have?

For a 2nd round pick? We've seen the defense play just as good if not better without him.

If Cooper continues to play like he has been you have him on a 4 year 7th round pick deal.

You have to pay Justin Houston. I wouldn't be surprised to see Charles hold out given the way he's being used and his current bargain contract.

IIRC Berrys contract will be up in a few years too.

The defense is set the offense needs a lot of improvement obviously. An extra pick would help. I would make that trade.

Nope. And honestly I don't understand why this is even a question. The way to build your team is through the draft. Why the Chiefs seem to think that trading or not signing our good players away is a good idea, I will never understand. Tong G., Jared Allen and Brandon Carr should have never been allowed to leave.

Uh...

Jared Allen became Branden Albert and Jamaal Charles.

Trading players for picks is a ways of building through the draft.

That said, Flowers is only 27. Why trade him for a second round pick we'd have to use on a slot corner? It makes no sense.

I'd rather Eric Fisher for a bag of hog jizz.

No one will ever remember Trezelle Jenkins after this pick...

Trading for Axl Smith/Trading Flowers away:

Suggesting trading Flowers should be equal to asking to have yer' scrote kicked before every home game at the gate...

This. One for each ball.

Release Flowers and then we're one injury away from suck.

I don't think so !

Valiant 10-17-2013 11:21 AM

No. As long as Peyton and other elite qbs are in the league with passer friendly rules you need 3 to 4 good cbs.

Quit thinking about ole nfl mindsets. To beat the elites you have to use man press and get after the cb. If not they will just disect defenses.

Any info on if KC is going after Nicks or Gordon? Jeff Chadhia confirmed that they're trying for TG

Link.
The last I heard was that they had not but if Atlanta called they would listen. That is not us TRYING to get Gonzo back.

Thread has no poll because then the stupid would be that obvious...

If Axl ever goes on IR, you better pray that Danielle is about two plays behind him...
