Aaron Murray - 3/24/14 - It was rumored that we had shown interest in him behind the scenes. Likely a leak from an agent. Quote:

I've heard a lot of hype over Denzel Perryman, and admittedly, I haven't seen him play.
I just watched his game against Nebraska - again, only and first impression - but I was kinda disappointed. + He is very strong; his arms wrap the runner with a huge impact on his tackles, and he lifts the runner up. + Holds his ground on blocks + He takes great angles in pursuit to the outside - He seems slow to react; does a lot of watching and waiting... and sort of dances around the pile while other guys are on the ground. - While he takes great angles, it was usually because he was slow to get to the initial point of contact. It's like he's trying to play clean up man, instead of the first-to-arrive destroyer mentality that we see with DJ sometimes. Takeaways - I need to watch more on him, because he has a ton of buzz and I just don't see it yet. I'm guessing he lays nasty hits occasionally, but he just seems to be out there hovering and protecting himself. Almost reminds me of DRC just standing around the pile instead of getting in on the tackles. I expected to see more nasty, more fight I guess. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/iUWs2o0NrmI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

This Devante Davis guy.
Pretty nice hands, but does not get separation and is therefore not a good pairing for Alex Smith. Smith is so risk adverse that he won't even throw to Dwayne Bowe. He requires his receiver to get separation, either through straight line speed or quick cuts and runs. After watching this video, I just don't see how this guy ever does anything with Smith at the helm. I say pass, as we are clearly committed to Smith. <iframe width="450" height="420" src="http://www.draftbreakdown.com/video-embed/?clip=254191" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe> |
This Wes Saxton guy.
I like him. I watched the two tapes below, and had completely different takeaways from each. The first video was from this past season. He's a big target, and makes me think that he'd fill the Fasano role in our offense opposite Kelce. He's there to move the chains, and Alex would likely check down to him pretty often. 2014: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/2_wURGBdFjM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> This second video is completely different, and its from 2013. I watched this after the first video, and was expecting to see large guy run the 8 yard curls. But no. In this video, he looks like Vernon-****ing-Davis (against shitty talent, yes.). Super fast for a TE. If he's anything like Davis, then he's a fantastic fit for Alex, and it would be great to be able to run double TE sets with two speedsters in Kelce and Saxton... like Gronk and Hernandez a few years ago. 2013: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/FO9HUptRdGc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

At the combine
However, every team is limited to interviewing just 60 player and have to submit a list in advance of the players they wish to interview. As well, each interview is limited to only 15 minutes meaning the players are under immense pressure as it may be the first and possibly only time they have direct contact with NFL coaches and general managers. Any way of finding the list of players the chiefs selected to interview at the combine this year, is this list public ? Or do we have to wait for players to announce what teams they talked too? |

Former Mizzou WR Dorial Green-Beckham has been a topic of conversation ever since ESPN's Mel Kiper's 2015 NFL mock draft sent DGB to the Kansas City Chiefs. The draft is obviously a ways away but we do have a little bit of news on DGB and the Chiefs. GM John Dorsey confirmed that the Chiefs plan to meet with DGB while in Indy.
"Physically we think he has all the gifts in the world," Dorsey said Thursday of DGB. "We've all admired him from the state of Missouri ... Now what people want to do is get a feel for him as a person and see where he is at this stage. That's what we're doing. We'll be meeting him in the next couple of days and I look forward to it." Clearly, the physical traits are there. He certainly looks the part of one of the NFL's next great receivers. If there were no other question marks, we'd be talking about DGB as a high first round pick. But of course there are more questions ... a few incidents at Missouri eventually led him to having to leave the school. He transferred to Oklahoma where he did not play last year as he sat out per NCAA rules. The thing with DGB, at least for me, is that the Chiefs really need to nail their first round pick this year. If they were in a different situation, I would be all about taking the risk on DGB. But with this team? It's a tough decision. His physical skills will make me always have some level of interest but the Chiefs need to do some due diligence here over the next couple of months and get a better feel for him. http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2015/2...fs-nfl-combine |
They really need to nail their 1st round pick this year? Isn't that every ****ing team?
If anything....now is the time to take a player that has some risk with them. Tampa Bay isn't shying away from Winston and shouldn't they have to "nail" the 1st overall pick? |

Not really sure a list is relevant since they'll meet with a shitload of prospects in the offseason at the senior bowl, shrine game, combine, invited workouts, etc.
Either way... whatever... they met with WR Devin Smith, OSU, at the Senior Bowl by the way. I'm sure a twitter junkie can find the link to that news. |

http://www.rotoworld.com/player/cfb/132590/justin-hardy
The Chiefs are "very high on" East Carolina WR Justin Hardy, reports TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline. Coming off a mediocre combine, and entering alongside an extremely strong WR class, Hardy may come at a discount in April. The 6-foot, 188-pounder posted a 9-foot-6 broad jump -- indicating his athletic explosion is lacking -- and a mediocre 4.56 forty. All of that said, Hardy's game is predicated on crisp routes and agility out of the slot, skills that Kansas City's offense could absolutely use. "Hardy’s route running skills, ability to separate in underneath coverage and dependable hands would fit a hole in the Chiefs offense," Pauline wrote. Feb 22 - 2:09 PM |
I am hoping the Chiefs are looking at Hardy as a guy they can target in rounds 3-4 rather than 1-2.

Dorsey drafts for upside and measurables. Look at his history here. He doesn't draft receivers that aren't fast and have subpar measurables. |
Also, he doesn't draft receivers here.
|
Hardy crushed the 3 cone. He will be targeting receivers who can get separation, just like Hardy. Plus he has great hands.
|
Dorsey comes from an organization that puts far more emphasis on the 3-cone when it comes to WRs than it does on the 40. I can't recall a recent GB receiver that ran any slower than 7.10 in the 3-cone. It might even be 7.05. I do recall the 40's being all over the board though, between about 4.45 and 4.60.
It seems Reid brought in more guys with speed, but still, 3-cone remains the most important thing for receivers. If you can't quickly separate, you're nothing in the NFL. |
Hardy: Big hands, Long arms, Quick out of breaks, Great Hands. Good blocker.
I am really struggling to see why he wouldn't be a perfect slot receiver for the offense we currently run. |
Round 1 - La'el Collins
Round 2 - Tyler Lockett Round 3 - Justin Hardy I would be great with that, and it fits the narrative of the rumors we are looking to completely rebuild our receiving corp. |

Minnesota: Vikings GM praises Williams Big draw: TE Maxx Williams Don't forget: LB Damien Wilson Notable attendees: Minnesota Vikings GM Rick Spielman and head coach Mike Zimmer; scouts from the 49ers, Ravens, Bills, Bengals, Browns, Broncos, Chargers, Chiefs, Dolphins, Falcons, Jaguars, Lions, Packers, Panthers, Patriots, Rams, Raiders, Seahawks, Steelers, and Titans; Atlanta Falcons DT Rashede Hageman also stopped by his alma mater. The skinny: The latest in a long line of top-tier Gophers running backs, David Cobb, was not the star of the show Monday; he elected not to work out at the event while dealing with a lingering quad injury. As a result, Williams was the one most scouts had their eyes on. He elected to stand on his combine numbers and focus on drills, where he impressed those on hand, particularly Spielman. Wilson did the same, and that offered a chance for safety Cedric Thompson to turn heads by running an unofficial 40-yard dash in the 4.4 range with a 40.5 inch vertical jump. This would be the 2nd time they have had a look at Max Williams, not sure about LB Damien Wilson, but we need help there and then the Safety Cedric Thompson also need depth there. RB Cobb ? |

Big draw: OG Terrence Jones https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpXVz3rD4pU Jones, who became a social media star last year when Troy officials posted a video of him squat-lifting 810 pounds with ease, was a bit disappointed with his bench press numbers. He lifted 225 pounds 25 times but was only credited with 22 due to improper form on three attempts. “ I should (show them the video). Maybe that will make up for my bench numbers,” he said with a laugh. WR /KR Chandler Worthy Troy With drizzle falling on a slightly wet field at Veterans Memorial Stadium, Worthy ran unofficial times of 4.34 on two 40-yard dashes. One timer clocked Worthy running a 4.27 on the second 40, but Troy listed him as running 4.34 for each dash. "I felt like I could have ran a lot faster," Worthy said. "I'll take a 4.3. That's not bad, either. A little short of 4.2 that I wanted, but I'm satisfied with what I got." At last month's NFL combine, only JJ Nelson of UAB (4.28) and Phillip Dorsett of Miami (4.33) ran faster times at the receiver position than Worthy did Monday. Worthy said the NFL scouts told the players the weather could be taken in account as he admitted to slipping a couple of times on the turf. Worthy thinks the scouts will shave 0.2 seconds "off a good amount of stuff." The players started the pro day inside Troy's weight room and Worthy created an early buzz by posting a 39-1/2-inch vertical jump. He leaped 11 feet and a half inch on his board jump and had 17 bench reps of 225 pounds. "I was blessed with big calves to be able to jump," said Worthy with a smile. With scouts from the Kansas City Chiefs, San Diego Chargers, Oakland Raiders, Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, Houston Texans , New York Giants, St. Louis Rams, Seattle Seahawks and Jacksonville Jaguars present, Worthy seemed to improve his NFL future with Monday's effort. |

You can rest assured that the Chiefs will draft a WR with 10 inch plus hands who remains to be determined, Hardy fits the Chiefs like a glove fully expect Hardy to be in Arrowhead next year.
Here is another WR they to a look at from Gardner Webb WR Kenny Cook. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3ig-0a4_Xc Gardner Webb The Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Giants, Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, Carolina Panthers and Cleveland Browns were on hand for pro day at Gardner Webb, which was run outside in the cold and damp weather. Despite slippery conditions, receiver Kenny Cook timed 4.54 on his second 40 after slipping during his first attempt. Cook, who caught 64 receptions for 758 yards and five touchdowns last season, measured 6-0 3/8, 208 pounds, had a vertical leap of 32 inches and posted a broad jump of 10 feet. His arm measured 34.5 inches, while his hand was 10 3/8 inches, impressive for a receiver. |

2014 First Team All-CUSA: 58 TKL, 14.0 TFL, 3.0 Sacks Southern Miss Almost 20 teams were on hand for pro day at Southern Miss, and their focus was primarily for one player: junior defensive lineman Rakeem Nunez-Roches. Standing on his Combine numbers, Nunez-Roches did positional drills for almost 40 minutes in a workout run by the Kansas City Chiefs. Scouts on hand were impressed and came away feeling the defensive lineman had definitely helped his draft stock. After the workout, Nunez-Roches spent a large amount of time with the Washington Redskins. |
LOGAN, Utah - Utah State had 16 former football players work out in front of 20 National Football League (NFL) Scouts Thursday morning in its annual Pro Day.

INTRIGUING PLAYER UNDER THE RADAR Georgia cornerback Damian Swann measured 6-0, 189 pounds and posted a respectable 4.5 40-yard dash time, which tied for the ninth-best time among the 40-plus cornerbacks to run. What piqued interest surrounded what Swann told ChiefsDigest.com on the feedback he received from team interviews during his Day Four media availability. “Getting a lot being able to play a lot of different spots,” Swann said. “Playing in the nickel, playing on the corner, playing a little safety. I think that’s really what’s going to help me throughout this whole process is being able to play those different spots and get on the field.” Swann played in a 3-4 base defense at Georgia and said he was comfortable in a press-man scheme. At the time of his media availability, Swann said the Chiefs weren’t among the teams he previously spoke to. But that changed after his media session. The Chiefs held an informal interview with Swann before the end of the Combine, a source familiar with the situation confirmed Monday night with ChiefsDigest.com. One of the biggest difference between a formal and interview surrounds the time constraints. Teams are allocated a 15-minute segment with a maximum of 60 players during a formal process. But an informal discussion allows more time with available players in an unstructured setting. Other players confirmed by ChiefsDigest.com to have informal interviews with the Chiefs at the Combine are Florida State cornerback Ronald Darby and Louisville free safety Gerod Holliman. |
