****The Official 2014 NFL Draft Thread**** (Part 2)

Old thread got too big...

So feel free to melt down here instead.

Mav 05-08-2014 09:09 PM

No one could possibly be melting down more than ME today.

Wow.

In58men 05-08-2014 09:09 PM

**** YOU REID **** YOU DORSEY. GET OUT OF KC.

'Hamas' Jenkins 05-08-2014 09:09 PM

If you want to take a pass rusher I can see that, but Ealy is more versatile than Ford with more upside, and he can play 3T, 5T, LDE, RDE, or OLB. I worry that Ford is Jerry Hughes-lite.

Mother****erJones 05-08-2014 09:09 PM

Kill yourselves Reid and Dorsey. This franchise got trolled by the browns. It's always the safe pick nonetheless a guy who never completed a full season in college and is coming off surgery. Makes perfect chiefs sense

BUT I WANTED TO MELT DOWN IN THE OTHER THREAD!!!

Chiefnj2 05-08-2014 09:10 PM

Lots of injuries for a first rounder. Never finished a season healthy. Wasn't cleared for the combine.

kcxiv 05-08-2014 09:10 PM

why is it that this team just doesnt draft its own qb. Its amazing that 31 other teams at least try. They may fail over and over again, but they TRY! The Chiefs just dont. Its like you want to be bad you dont want the Trophy with your Owners name on it. There is no other way to explain it.

I still don't get why we just didn't move up to 21 for a minimal price and snatch Manziel.

Manziel or Dee Ford? Not even a question for me....

I will TRADE YOU Manziel for Dee Ford, and GIVE YOU A 2ND.

Meatloaf 05-08-2014 09:11 PM

I'm kind of neutral on the pick. Just hard to believe that Ford was the BPA. Frankly, I think it was more of a NEEDS pick than a BPA pick. Would LOVE to see their board.

It doesnt matter whos running the team. where they came from, once they get to KC. THey get scared to draft a qb, even when showing on another team they will do it. Amazing.

Bill Brasky 05-08-2014 09:11 PM

Eagles pick... Marcus Smith!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

LOL Eagles fans.

Yeah you do. It's the Chiefs. They will never, ever take a quarterback.

The Cardinals will get a QB. **** me

I'm not sure what teams are viewing Ealy as.

I bet the Pats take him though.

RUSH 05-08-2014 09:12 PM

Meanwhile...they probably picked Ford so they could cut Hali next year and extend Alex at an obscene number. And after last offseason, it's hard to trust Dorsey's contract negotiations.

The cherry on top of the Ford pick is that we traded the farm for Alex ****ing Smith, so now we get to sit through the entire second round tomorrow and most of the third before we pick again.

OldSchool 05-08-2014 09:13 PM

Lol, Ford is fine and has a much better burst than Hali does.

Anyong Bluth 05-08-2014 09:13 PM

Kinda don't give a **** when better options were on the table.

A natural pass rusher who has never completed a season and is a surgeon's wet dream.

There were more talented players at positions of greater need available.

Eh. Ford was the better pass rusher.

The Hunt family has one rule when it comes to draft day.

Never ever draft a QB in the 1st round.

Knowing that Derek Carr is David's brother makes me like him less than if his brother was the most prolific pedophile in American history.

You could hear a pin drop with that announcement at the draft party. It was silent.

Dragonocho 05-08-2014 09:16 PM

So we wait til next offseason, trade for the next 49ers backup QB and listen to Mitch Holthus do his PT Barnum bit and sell it as gold. Yay Chiefs.

They could show it.

Every other team would have them a round later anyway.

Seriously. At this rate, Dorsey and Reid are gone after next year.

Numerous needs, they pick a player who will be a backup. And not even a QB backup.

I'd love a surprise move back into this round to get another bluechip guy by KC. I'll keep dreaming, of course.

oh man Cards took Deone Bucannon :(

DomerNKC 05-08-2014 09:21 PM

if we picked a guy that we could have built around it would have been cool, but Ford?? A future all pro receiver...QBOTF...an NFL caliber CB etc. nope...

Chiefnj2 05-08-2014 09:21 PM

He's an excellent pass rusher, but needs to get stronger to set the edge. KC hasn't been very lucky with collegiate players with a history of injuries.

Don't watch. Its that simple.

OnTheWarpath15 05-08-2014 09:21 PM

Funny how people said we couldn't take a QB because we needed an impact player in R1 because of the lack of picks...

Meanwhile, we take a guy who might be on the field for 30% of defensive snaps - and that's if he stays healthy.

Rausch 05-08-2014 09:22 PM

Other teams drafting for need and filling holes.

Chiefs reach for a situational/BU player...

ping2000 05-08-2014 09:22 PM

This draft is full of talent through round 7. In fact, there will be 100 or so guys that are UDFA that would likely be drafted in any other year. I wish we had a 2nd, but we'll still get plenty of talent.

O.city 05-08-2014 09:24 PM

Let him be a subpackage rusher next year, then transition

'Hamas' Jenkins 05-08-2014 09:24 PM

The Ford pick is not a disaster, but it's definitely a WTF moment. More than anything, it shows how absolutely full of shit Dorsey's "BPA" philosophy is. Eric Fisher and Dee Ford.

We were in subsets like 70% last year

The Chiefs must rip out and throw away the first ten pages of all the draft guides before they build their draft board. Why don't we draft first round talent in the first round. We always reach or pick some guy that needs to switch positions. **** these project guys.
