They're not acceptable examples. You make a very valid point if you consider box office and critical/audience reception separately. What you're not getting is this movie is both making a bunch of money AND is well regarded by critics and audiences alike. That's a perfect combo and means there will be more to come, which is what I said when stating they were trying to turn the franchise like Bond, where the character is more important than the actor. You said they failed. You're wrong. It happens to the best of us.

They are fine examples, and I even added a third from just this year. Your argument about Box/reviews sucks.

Sorry.

Whatever. I'm done arguing with someone who clearly doesn't know WTF he's talking about.

I have been on the other side of disagreements like this before so I sympathize with anyone who really doesn't understand what the rest of us are seeing in it.

I enjoy the shit out of artsy fartsy stuff, especially really visual stuff, but I cannot fathom the acclaim that Wings of Desire (Wim Wenders 1987) gets. I think it is a total piece of shit, but at the same time, I recognize I am in the tiny tiny minority on that one, so I just nod and let it ride. I am not going to be convinced. I watched it repeatedly to try to get what I am missing, and I don't see it.

I used an obviously relevant, and obviously recent, example in Furious 7. It kills your argument, regardless of other examples. You just don't want to accept it, which is not the same as it being invalid, and you're the one who started this particular argument (box/reviews) in the first place.

So you can shove that second sentence in your post right up your ass, because there was no call for it being in your post.

Fire Me Boy! 05-29-2015 03:07 PM

I don't know what point you're making about FF7. Because some here don't like it? How does that make it a failure?

And I included that part in direct reflection of "your argument sucks. Sorry."

This is the absolute most INSANE thrill ride I've probably ever watched.

Non stop pedal to the metal action and its all beautifully shot, color me very very impressed... and my buddy says they've already agreed to a sequel :thumb:

5 of 5 stars, worth every single penny.

Tom Hardy as Max in Fury Road: Mad Max 4

Disregard.

I was making fun of the previous posts. Not trying reopen an argument with a otherwise cool dude, I deleted the comment.

I enjoy FMB's postings. We disagreed on a movie. We weren't battling for world domination.

Now, if he'd told me that Avatar must be a good movie just because of reviews and box office, things might have ended with blood in the streets... LMAO

This. What a long, dull, droll ride that piece of shit was.
