How do contracts for GMs work? Are they guaranteed similar to a contract that is given to a head coach?

Titty Meat 10-09-2012 04:06 PM

Petero wouldn't know.

Don't fall for it, men. He's hoping that the Pioli hate will subside if he's going to be here anyhow.

Right now, I don't think the good folks of Kansas City, rubes as we are, are going to fall for this.

Fescoe and Wright say that big changes are coming.

Petro and KK substantiate extension rumors.

Figure it out.

No way dude. Keitzman has a personal hate for Pioli, and Petro is usually pretty anti "Patriot Way" with his takes.

810 hosts are anything but Chiefs homers with this regime.

alnorth 10-09-2012 04:26 PM

No way in hell. This sort of thing usually happens in the off-season. If you do an extension during the season, its only when you are doing really, really well.

They are trying to stir crap and get ratings.

Titty Meat 10-09-2012 04:26 PM

When has 810 ever broke a story?

teedubya 10-09-2012 04:27 PM

Just hypothetically speaking here...

We're ready to go to the next step of protest for inaction from Clark. An extension? Good Lord, there would be rallies, protests, and blackouts that would make the Occupy people blush.

So, Pioli is extended, Romeo is fired/retires, and we hire McD/Ferentz? Is that what we're basically saying?

Munson 10-09-2012 04:34 PM

If this is true, there will be riots in the streets. Mobs will engulf Arrowhead stadium calling for Chunt's head on a platter.

Our work becomes even more important if this is true, remember that.

CaliforniaChief 10-09-2012 04:37 PM

I'm being sincere when I say that a Pioli extension will result in a Gameday Blackout rally in another location where more people will show up for that than will for the football game. The average attendance will drop to around 35-40,000/game, and a generation of Chiefs fans will go away.

Bwana 10-09-2012 04:38 PM

Crush 10-09-2012 04:44 PM

Prepare for 1980's crowds chunt.

Sorter 10-09-2012 04:45 PM

The only way I could support the Pioli extension is
1. Geno Smith
2. New HC who is contact with Clark on a consistent basis. This of course requires Clark to become more involved.
3. New DC who specializes in the 1-gap or a fire-zone oriented 3-4.
4. Bringing in scouts/personnel guys from Baltimore, GB, and Pittsburgh to join our staff.

He would have to do all of this for me to personally feel comfortable with Scott getting an undeserved extension. I feel that if he did those things, even Scott couldn't mess this team up.

teedubya 10-09-2012 04:46 PM

The thought of this just makes my stomach churn.

Dayze 10-09-2012 04:47 PM

There are so many things that would make me smile if this happened. I would love to see a ton of fans just stay in the parking lot. Though.....they'd be giving Clark parking money.

Wonder if there is a way to apply for a permit for a shitload of people to gather at a public place.

Munson 10-09-2012 04:47 PM

He hasn't done anything that would justify a contract extension.

Any word on when this alleged extension was signed?

There was talk about that not too long ago, I thought Jackson Co got the parking money? Does anyone even know for sure?

Shag 10-09-2012 04:58 PM

If this is true, then I know all I need to know about cHunt...

stonedstooge 10-09-2012 05:09 PM

God I almost hope this is true. It would finally give me the courage to stop being a fan of this team and completely sever all ties with them after following them since the 60's.

qabbaan 10-09-2012 05:15 PM

There isn't any calculus by which this makes sense. The guy is in his third losing season out of four. The team appears to be in disarray. Drafts are underwhelming. Arrowhead is half empty at kickoff. Fans are revolting in a way we haven't seen in the modern era of football in this city.

Why would Hunt do this? It makes no sense.

Even if you are in the "Clark only cares about money" camp, this makes no sense because attendance seems to be trending downward. The Chiefs didn't give away jerseys in the 90s. They sold tickets then. As fast as they could print them.

I don't buy it.

the Talking Can 10-09-2012 05:20 PM

pioli is the biggest piece of shit in the nfl

re-signing him is a clear statement that you hate your fanbase....so I expect he is already signed

CaliforniaChief 10-09-2012 05:26 PM

I don't believe it. But if it's true, it would be akin to re-electing Obama. You hated his predecessor, you went for big change, and now have had 3 out of 4 losing seasons. Oh hell, let's just bring him back. Off to DC.......LMAO

Molitoth 10-09-2012 05:31 PM

There are ways out of contracts, we see it all of the time.

that said, there are even more ways moronic chief fans like CAPS DEB will find excuses to keep buying those season tix because they are "true fans".

We are Chiefsplanet. We KNOW football and this team. The sad people who claim Matt Cassel is a Pro Bowl QB are the same that will still be at Arrowhead next year supporting the chiefs no matter what.

Maybe Pioli was pissed about the banner and wanted Clark to show him his job was safe.

This. If Hunt only cares about money, then why extend the guy who is losing it for him? There's no way he gives an extension to the guy that the fans hate more than King Carl.

Yep.

I don't know how I could come back from that one. Even getting Geno Smith might not do it.

It just better not be the case. Otherwise, I'll have a big decision to make.

This might be better than we think.

It could just be a two-year extension.

Draft a QB and show progress next season. You don't, you're out.

Trying to find a silver lining.
