Brandon Flowers

Why would anyone besides Brandon Flowers ever have an opportunity to cover Andre Johnson? Flowers whipped his ass all day every time he covered him. Other than the reverse pass interference call I'm not sure that Flowers even allowed Johnson to make a catch. Carr and everybody else that tried to cover him kept getting burned. Same thing last week. Why was Flowers not covering Reggie Wayne all day? He is obviously their best corner and it seems like a no-brainer that he should be covering the other team's best receiver.

I've thought the same thing....

Because they just leave the CB's on their sides, the other teams know this so they move their WR's to get the matchups they want.

Indeed

Didn't Johnson beat Flowers on the final TD catch?

I'm not sure but I thought it was...

Carr didnt do a bad job.

Its Andre Johnson, the guy is probably the best WR in the game, hes gonna get his.

They were in a zone.

Johnson ran to the safety, cut it back out. Throw was over Carr who was playing underneath.

Johnson simply found the open spot in the zone.

I get that, but what is the logic behind it? Why would you not put your best corner on their best WR every single play?

We're trying to pad Flowers stats

Jerm 10-17-2010 03:24 PM

Speaking of Flowers, best CB in the NFL right now?

I think you could make the argument...he's def. top 3.

Pro Bowler.

I can see that point. I'm just taking a while stab at it here but what does that mean if Flowers is all day locked up with Johnson. What about when a zone is called? What if Johnson lines up in the slot? What zone is Brandon then suppose to cover? Can you even coordinate that correctly on the fly?

Ex:

Zone D is called. However, Flowers always lines up against Johnson (if not, then the O knows we're in zone). Don't know where Johnson is lining up until it's too late.

Well, other than the Jets have 2 on their team that are better you may be right.

Cromartie is definitely NOT better than Flowers.

Flowers should be covering the Andre Johnson zone.
