Mock (6/16)

Assumptions:

1. The Chiefs finish 7-9 and end up picking #12. Andy Reid, John Dorsey, Pederson and Sutton are all retained.

2. The Chiefs extend QB Alex Smith, OLB Justin Houston, and S Eric Berry over the next 12 months.

3. The Chiefs cut QB Chase Daniel, TE Anthony Fasano, OLB Tamba Hali and CB Sean Smith.

4. The Chiefs re-sign G Rishaw Johnson after he has a solid 2014 season starting at RG to a 3 year, $8m deal. They also re-sign Ron Parker for 2 years, $3m.

5. The Chiefs let walk RB Joe McKnight, WR Junior Hemingway, OT J'Marcus Webb, OT/G Jeff Linkenbach, C Rodney Hudson, DE Allen Bailey, OLB Dezmon Moses and CB Chris Owens.

6. The Chiefs re-sign FB Anthony Sherman, LS Thomas Gafford to minimal deals.

7. The Chiefs sign OLB Ricky Sapp (Texans) to a 2 year, $4m deal.

8. They receive four compensatory picks: a 3rd, a 4th, a 5th, and a 6th.

On with the show:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/BI2Et19vDCM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

1. WR Doriel Green-Beckham, ???

The Chiefs inked Alex Smith in this hypothetical, and no doubt that part of that contract implied that the Chiefs would do their best to bring on tons of receiving talent for him to throw to. Dwayne Bowe and a bunch of JAGs isn't cutting it.

Andy Reid has shown an affinity for elite Mizzou talents before, and Green-Beckham, despite a nickel's worth of brains, is oozing with talent and potential.

2. CB Trae Waynes, Michigan State

A shut down corner with good speed and great length.

3. TE Randall Telfer, USC

A blocking TE with some receiving talent. Dorsey's kind of TE.

3. OT/G Le'Raven Clark, Texas Tech

There's no position on the front line Clark can't play, but he has been outstanding this past season as an athletic left tackle for the Red Raiders.

4. WR Antwan Goodley, Baylor

The Chiefs have their athletic red zone targets in Bowe and Green-Beckham. Now they need more speed in the slot, because the Weston Dressler Experiment is not destined to go well.

4. DE Travis Raciti, San Jose State

Raciti is a project, but this is a defensive line that will need to get a lot stronger against the run -- expect the Chiefs to experience a significant drop off against the run with Tyson Jackson gone. At 6'5", 290 lbs, Raciti can be a clogger.

5. NT Ellis McCarthy, UCLA

Speaking of cloggers, McCarthy may be the best pure clogger of the 2014 class at this point. 6'5", 330 lbs, and a bear to move off the point of attack. And for some reason, really good cloggers are starting to fall in the Draft.

5. RB Marcus Coker Stony Brook

A one-dimensional power back from Iowa, with some good speed but really bad character concerns. He can be every bit the goal line back this team will need if Knile Davis goes down.

6. C Jack Smith, Louisville

I haven't watched a lot of Smith, but he stood out on Bridgewater's tape this past year. Smith's a plus-sized center (315 lbs) with really good pass protection skills.

6. SS Denzel Nkemdiche, Mississippi

A linebacker for the Rebels, Nkemdiche is only 201 lbs and will have to transfer to strong safety in the NFL. He is an exceptional nose-for-the-ball talent that reminds me too much of Eric Berry in the box.

7. CB/S Cody Riggs, Notre Dame

A smaller, lightning quick corner who could play some nickel, but might really excel eating up space at free safety.

Love the first two but Waynes will be a 1st rounder when it's all said and done.

Goodley in the 4th would be awesome.

McCarthy is more of a 3-4 DE IMO and should also go a lot higher.

I'll take that roster all day.

You should stop with this one...they tend to get worse as you go on. Just saying.
