I didn't really get into the whole "gansta rap" phase. Only what got played mainstream, or what my older brother got into. Someone mentioned Eminem. Is he really considered old school now?

I never would have pegged luv as an old school rap lover.

Old school, yes. I like all kinds of stuff. Classic country, classic rock, nearly anything that came out of the 80's (including hip-hop), soft rock, pop, etc. Nothing really heavy, though. What I listen to depends on what kind of mood I'm in.

Depends on what you consider old school. His earliest songs are nearly a decade old, though.

It's funny because if you listen to Def Jam era Beastie Boys and old Run DMC they actually refer to themselves as new school, and L.O.N.S. obviously considered themselves new school. It's a blurred line, really.
I guess they considered BDP and Juice crew stuff old school.
I generally consider old school like Midnight Marauders and earlier, because that was sort of the last of the cassette tape era, but to each his own.

Lately, I've considered it anything my nieces and nephew have never heard of before...lol. My oldest niece is 13. I'd say the cassette tape era is a good description to me. Basically most things about 15-20 years ago or older?

If you want to get real, this is where hiphop began...
