Baker broke the femur of his left leg during the Week 17 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, so this was not an unexpected move. With any luck, he’ll be ready to play by the beginning of the 2021 regular season.

Wilson also reported the release of practice squad defensive tackle Tyler Clark.

These moves made room for two practice squad re-signings.

We had already reported wide receiver Marcus Kemp’s imminent re-signing. Kemp has been a key special teams player the Chiefs will be happy to have back for the postseason run, in which practice squad elevations will be unlimited.

Quarterback Jordan Ta’amu is another familiar face. While he didn’t make the Chiefs’ active roster after being signed from the XFL in March, he was on the Kansas City practice squad until the end of October. The Detroit Lions signed him to their practice squad in mid-December. Now that the Lions’ season has ended, the Chiefs have brought Ta’amu back.

Kansas City now has the maximum of 16 players on their practice squad. The active roster now stands at 52 players."

Some of you have not been following along. Jordan Ta’amu was the scout quarterback the week the Chiefs played at Baltimore. Ta’amu was given the role of mimicking Lamar Jackson in practice leading up to the game...

After seeing his leg break in two and fall off, I kind of figured Baker wouldn't be back for the playoffs.

But might end up being picked up again anyway.

Really had some high hopes for Baker.

Oh well. Chiefs won before he arrived.

They really don't need him this year. They'll definitely want him ready for next year if they have to let Breeland go.
