Was Hoch one of the first of the can't fail farm teamers?

That all? I bet he goes Phil Humber on the MLB and throws a perfecto.

I don’t care if he leaves KC and becomes a Hall of Famer some day. Hes not ever doing that in KC, so they might as well do all parties involved a favor.

Not at all. Dayton doesn't even claim the choice as his, as he wasn't hired as KC's GM until the after the draft. He was already in the majors for a few seasons by the time Baseball America determined KC to have the #1 farm system.

I have no quams with getting rid of him. I was just speaking from a "Royals luck" perspective. It would be a nice bit of evidence against our coaching if he left and finally got his shit together.

I believe so. #1 overall or something like that.

Hoch has one more year on his deal. Keep him as a number 4/5 starter until Paulino and Duffy get healthy.

DeezNutz 09-11-2012 01:09 PM

Hoch, who is definitively DM's draft pick (don't care what he says otherwise), is literally one of the 10 worst starters in ML history by the numbers.

So of course we're going to keep him around, paying him far too much money.

He's not a #5 starter; he's trash because of his inconsistency.

Baird had already been let go. DM was announced as GM the day after the draft, so Hoch is in weird territory in determining who "owns" that pick. Braves didn't want Dayton to be involved with our draft after spending months prepping for Braves draft, so there was have truly been a gentleman's agreement to keep DM out of our draft. Hard to believe he wouldn't have at least been given the chance to nod his head about the pick.

Cain with a leadoff double in the first. Alcides with a popout bunt.

Nice stroke by Go Johnny Go Go. Royals up 4-0 in the top of 4

Will Smith is showing a beastly amount of poise. Loving it.
