I need some advice. My friend gave me his ps3 that has the yellow light of death. I wana call Sony to get it fixed. Is there any place besides Sony that will fix it? I wanted to call Sony and see I can BS them with it and see if I can get it fixed for free or cheap. I've had good luck calling Microsoft with issues. What ya Sony guys think? I wana play last of us so bad. Is there a specific angle I should take with talking to them?

OK, they include the new HDD in that fee. Not so bad then.

How long ago did they do the repair? Did you have the YLOD?

70 bucks to repair a ylod? ouch! Hell, i better look on the "black market" for a ps3. I still know a few folks! lol

If it's just the hard drive you can buy a laptop hard drive at whatever price you want and install it yourself. Not sure what the ylod is though.

I just went on ebay and bought a ps3 and the last of us. Didnt feel like sending it or fixing it. I'm dying to play the last of us pardon the pun

I have the older model that plays PS1/PS2/and PS3 games.

I'm afraid of sending it in because I want to be able to play all my old games and not be stuck with PS3 only.

Any recomendations?...

I never realized PS3's get those problems. Nothing lasts forever I guess. Have you guys ridden them hard, or had kids playing constantly?

I'm on my second PS3. I probably wouldn't send it in. With the 4 coming out, you'll probably be able to get a replacement fairly cheap.

Better. But I prefer PS3 and am kind of biased.

I don't think there is much difference play wise honestly. Of course I have a 360.

Just save your money and get PS4 for $400 in November IMO.
