I started out as a dark elf but then restarted as a redguard about 2 hours in. Pretty lethal with a bow at this point, but I've barely developed any magical skills at all and I fear that will come back to haunt me soon.

MoreLemonPledge 11-13-2011 03:01 AM

I obliged. She rewarded me greatly:

And now, since I don't want to spoil the DWARVEN RUINS for everyone....

No, this doesn't look ominous at all...

But I guess I'll go ahead and loot this FULL SET OF DWARVEN ARMOR!

Oh, shit.

AW HELL NAW.

After clearing out the ruins, I went on to the Dwarven Museum...started looting, angered the guards, and lured them into a trap.

If you want to pay 25 bucks you can get the PRIMA official strategy guide online.

Of course complete walkthroughs will be written on the official skyrim wiki, but that will take time.

Gotcha.

Those having issues with inventory space, look up Steed Stone - one of the guardian stones you run across in the game world.
It grants you +100 inventory weight and no movement penalty for heavy armour.
Northwest of Solitude.

Hammock Parties 11-13-2011 09:19 PM

Might be a heat issue, frazod.

ReynardMuldrake 11-13-2011 09:20 PM

This is honestly one of the best looking games I've ever played. The variety is seriously impressive. Do any of the dungeons repeat at all? Every one I've been to looks different. I loved Oblivion, but everything was either fort, cave, mine, or Alyeid ruin pretty much, repeated over and over. And hearing that they finally hired more than two voice actors is nice for a change.

I was thinking that, too. I've been playing pretty much non-stop all day, and it is a bit warm in here. Computer's fairly well ventilated, but I think I'll throw open a window and take a break for a bit.

Hammock Parties 11-13-2011 09:34 PM

That might not fix your issue.

Monitor your video card temps. If it's overheating you might have a weak power supply and it's pulling too hard. That used to cause a lot of reboots for me.

Bump 11-13-2011 09:59 PM

I finally picked up this game. I logged in about 150 hours into Oblivion but I haven't played that in like 4 years. I just got through the intro when the dragon was attacking and I got a boner.

Blankey 11-13-2011 10:05 PM

I've played about 30 hours these last three days. I barely even cared about the Chiefs game today; too caught up in this game.

Pablo 11-13-2011 10:08 PM

So, I've played Oblivion a little bit and dug it. I played quite a bit of Fallout and it's probably still my favorite game ever.

I'm guessing I should go out and buy this game like yesterday, huh?

It would be a lot easier if they gave us 3 hands to use. 1 for flames, 1 for heal, 1 for sword.

That's why you backup while attacking

dual wield flame thrower and start backing up until you are out of mana or they are dead.

Then break out the sword and shield.

I'm constantly switching weapons

in stealth mode pretty much all the time with bow out for long range first strike
when they get close enough switch to double flame thrower
when out of mana, sword and shield
switch sword hand to healing when i need it, keep blocking with shield while healing.

my standard right now ... not very high level yet though.

Buck 11-14-2011 01:25 AM

Yeah I haven't used a shield once. Maybe I should.

Do you know what kind of damage they inflict? Is it just normal damage or do they inflict frost damage too?

there are magic shields that do more damage

I don't use them for damage, basically just to block while healing.

you can always level up your bow by going out and shooting critters

I wonder if you could go out and find a wolf and just stand there with your shield up to level it up. I played MMO RFonline game and we used to level up skills artificially all the time.

Buck 11-14-2011 01:32 AM

Sorry I meant the Ice Wraiths.

I don't think the wiki is fully updated on all this shit yet.

All the people who would do that are busy playing the game.

Hammock Parties 11-14-2011 01:32 AM

Bow is so easy to level up. Just shoot everything in sight.

Use your favorites. I basically have fireball locked into my left hand. So I use my bow in sneak and long distance, when I need to switch to melee, choose my right for my glass mace and fire is there in my left as soon as I switch.

TrickyNicky 11-14-2011 10:17 AM

If you are on PC, open your favorites and highlight the weapon/spell and press 1-8 to map them to the number keys. Just found that out last night. A bit better than pressing q and scrolling and clicking.

:D

btw ... just a few level points in Magicka seems to make a huge difference in how long it lasts. I think your magicka recovery must be based on % of the total you have. The more you have the faster it recovers.

I'm an imperial so i start with Heavy armor ability and each point of the heavy armor perk increases your armor rating by 20% for heavy armor. I put 2 in there so far. Just wait until i get the extra fire % damage and heavy armor weighs nothing perks

I'm going to be a flame throwing tank!!! :)

Major bummer. I have a business trip today and will be without Skyrim till Thursday! All I did Saturday/Sunday was play (and most of Friday). Basically skipped the game. Watched the first half on DVR, then logged on here to find if we. Once I discovered the outcoime, I just went back to playing.

What guilds is everyone joining? I'm in the magic college, thieves guild and dark brotherhood, so far.

You add 2 additional words to each shout, making them more powerful.

Patience, grasshopper. Giants will f you up, even at higher levels.

Ok, I'm giving this game a shot. I got it for PC. Looks really sweet. I made a reptile dude. Anyway, the small issue I'm having so far is that there is shit everywhere. I'm the dude that is thorough when it comes to getting every item in games. I literally did a crime scene investigation in every room in Bioshock. I just like to get all the items. Seems in this game you gotta just ignore a lot of shit. It's hard for me to do.

Near the sleeping tree mammoth/giant camp there's a sniper's perch the giants can't get to. Lure them there and take them out. So broken.

My bow and archery skills are powerful enough now that I can take out giants just by firing two shots from cover for 3x sneak damage.

:

Yeah you have to level up your enchanting. I'm currently working on leveling up my smithing and enchanting so I can make epic enchanted armor.

Also the degree of the soul gem you use on an item affects the percentage of improvement. Use a greater soul for more percentage.

I'm way too impatient.

I bought Oblivion, got through 1 gate. Got through a 2nd gate and realized how repetitive it was and never touched it again.
