Late night bullshit: pick your favorite "ace" set.

Sorter started a pretty cool thread a few days ago about the different offensive tendencies of Andy Reid.

And, well, since it is late night, and it is time for bullshit, and bullshit is what I do, I'm going to spend a couple nights from time to time putting together hypothetical arrangements based on the different personnel sets described in that thread.

Next up: the "ace" set. 2 WR, 2 TE, 1 RB.

Here are three sets. Pick your favorite, or create your own. Or do both.

This one's a bit creative. You're projecting to the defense that you're looking at a bubble screen with two tight ends blocking, while isolating Bowe on the far side. Should any lanes present themselves, Smith can always hand it off to Charles.

This one is the very picture of symmetry. You've got Braden Wilson and Anthony Fasano in what almost looks like a max protection set-up. But both/either can sprout off and run various outs or shallow slants. Bowe and Baldwin give the team size on the outside as well.

McCluster in the slot, with Kelce out wide and Fasano locked in next to Albert, and Knile Davis in the back field. Just a standard assortment of talent to see what mismatches the team might be able to generate.

Poll forthcoming.

Each one of those has a few odd positions for a few players. Kelce out wide? Fasano & Moeaki out wide at the same time? I'd have to go with #2 though, or maybe replace Baldwin with Avery, and Wilson with Kelce.

I like set 2, let's go Marty ball and shove the ball down their throats and wear the other team down.

I'd rather have one TE set up as a FB/HB deeper in the backfield. Gives them a cleaner release over the middle, and if they get to the edges, the corners will have a hard time with them.

#2 but replace Wilson with Kelce.

I don't really like any of your sets no offense (actually plenty of offense). Regards.

Agreed.

All three are good and have their purposes.

#1 looks like Ace Pair/Wing. Two TE's on the right in a wing (Y&H), whoever you want in the Z and bowe all alone in the X. Can check to whatever you want from bowe, as well as see how the Defense is going to align when your strength is to the right.

#2 looks like vanilla Ace, balanced formation you can do a lot out of. One of my favorites.

#3 by using Ace personnel and putting Kelce out wide, you force the defense to show you their hand right away. If a backer goes out on kelce, its man. Corner stays, its zone.

I'll add my favorite, Ace with the X & Z receiver in a doubles on the left, Y & H TE's in a wing on the right. Gives a nice run overload on the right and can run any 2 man route concept with the twins side (china & curl/flat are my favorites from this formation)

edit: didnt see the gif's before. my #1 and #3 are off from your idea.

Likewise. With Kelce being such a dynamic run-blocker, why wouldn't you have him there instead of Wilson? He gives you everything as an in-line blocker that Wilson gives you along with more size, speed and hands.

That's your perfect Ace set.

The first set looks like it is custom made for an Avery end around. I like it.

The second is probably my favorite set, especially considering the substitutions you can make with it. Avery for Baldwin, Kelce for Wilson, or just run as is. Looks effective...

The third set looks like a good 3rd and medium lineup. Quick hook/sideline outs, or a draw to Davis, maybe even a QB draw....

I like #2. I'd go with Sherman at FB over Wilson though. I don't think we'd have drafted Wilson if we had already made that trade.

I'd run one of Priest's old favorites. Put Wilson in motion, bring him left, and run the HB counter around Albert. With Asamoah pulling behind Wilson it's a win-win. Charles would eat it up.
