Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

http://lh3.google.com/DoubleTapper/R...ofGoUI0/A4.gif

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

I looked at the new Remington. Accurate? How do you like the 204?

Bobcat I shot Friday night was at 170 yards using nightvision. There's no bullet drop at 200 yards and the .204 round is right there with the .220 swift at 4200 fps. The 204 is probably my most favorite round. It blows shit up !

Ive been a 22 250 fan forever but the 204 looks pretty fun. May have to sell a 300winMag and a 280 then get 2 AR's

Hog's Gone Fishin 01-23-2011 12:27 PM

Man, Don't sell your guns. President Osama will be trying to take them away anyway. Get a 2nd or 3rd job and just buy more. Or use the guns you got to rob a bank and then buy more.

WV 01-23-2011 01:38 PM

I have a S&W M&P 15 and I love it, but sadly haven't been able to shoot enough to speak about it's accuracy. I recently scoped it though and am looking forward to shooting some deer with it!

Pants 01-23-2011 01:46 PM

I too am looking to buy an AR15 (must be 5.56/.223). My budget is probably around $1500, what do you experts think my best bet would be? I'm leaning towards Rock River Arms.

Kraus 01-23-2011 01:49 PM

I'd plan on picking up a CMMG M4LEP-II this spring. They are a local (Missouri) manufacturer.

One high dollar rig. I dont know enough about all the add ons and upgrades to know why this over a factory colt or a Bushmaster. I need schooling.

Frazod 01-23-2011 03:04 PM

I picked up a new 9mm yesterday. Ruger P95. It's uglier than my ex-wife in the morning, but got great reviews, was inexpensive and has a pit rail. I'm going to pick up a Viridian C5L green laser/tactical light for it that'll run me almost as much as I paid for the pistol itself.

Deteriorating eyesight here, too. I spend most of my waking hours in front of a monitor, and that and age have taken their toll. Distance vision is still good, but I've become extremely far-sighted and it really ****s with me using iron sights now. That's the reason I'm getting the laser.

Getting old sucks. :sulk:

I should check prices on ebay as well. OpticsPlanet has that C5L for $275, comparable price on Amazon.

EDIT: Just did - nobody can beat $275. I think I'll get the Amazon package with the holster for $300.

I'm not crazy about the grip, but I found a Pachmayr slip-on at pistoleer.com for $11.00 and have already ordered it.

Well, good guns cost a lot of money. I was ready to buy one of the Daniel's Defense M4's but it seems like they're not in stock anywhere because they're so popular. I'm just debating between the Colt M4 and the Sig now.

One of my dads best friends Herb Nolda
This book documents the United States Coast Guard career of Herbert E Nolda, from his enlistment in April 1942 to his discharge in December 1945. The book also encompasses his early life before the war... and his life after the war as it relates to veterans' matters. On the morning of December 7, 1941, Herbert was living in Santa Monica, California, where he was employed at the huge Douglas Aircraft factory. He arrived at a boarding house for lunch to find the landlady hysterical with the news of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Several other young men were there too. Within minutes one of the young men stood up and announced: "Our country's in trouble and needs our help. I'm going down to enlist. Is anyone else coming with me?" "I am," Herbert replied. His time in the service was varied, from patrols on the East Coast, to four major invasions in North Africa and Europe. On June 6, 1944, D-Day, he was manning the #1 gun on his ship, LCI(L) #92 as she plowed into the maelstrom of Omaha Beach. Her sister ship, LCI(L) #91 had hit the beach a half hour earlier. She had been Herbert's home until a month before D-Day. The two small ships became famous in the annuals of D-Day. Later, in mid-August 1945, Herbert was aboard the troop transport, USS Admiral HT Mayo anchored at Ulithi Atoll in the South Pacific when the guns of the neighboring ships started firing, but there were no enemy planes in sight. ... This book is filled with the grim and the humorous incidents of war as experienced by a young sailor from landlocked Nebraska. Also interwoven are shorter biographies of some of Herbert's crewmembers. It is richly illustrated with 185 photographs and other historical documents

I picked up a DPMS Panther Oracle for around $700 last year. It's pretty bare bones, but I'm happy with it. I need to upgrade the rail and add a grip; then I could mount that Viridian laser on it.

Don't know. He showed them and they were impressive. One was a sniper rifle, scope was tiny compared to todays standard. His father in law brought them back with him in WWII. As is the M1. He has a japanese sword from WWII. Thats my favorite of his.

You should post that! :titus:

Haha, the only part she is involved in is the fighting part with the helmets and huge padded sticks. Whatever thats called. She did dominate the bigger girl though.

Another side note. The section with the gas masks and chemical warfare was crazy. All those people coming out of the room throwing up.

I'm not sure what all they used. It seemed everyone was stumbling, coughing, throwing up.

If my fiance had to do it now and as strong as my dumps are, it wouldn't faze her a bit.

Ive got a Glock 9mm, Baretta 9mm, Sig 45. I must have gotten lucky. of the 3 the Sig has the roughest trigger but I have shot it the least as well.

I've got a Beretta Mini-Cougar 45. Not a bad gun, but it doesn't have a pit rail and twice I've pinched the shit out of my hand slapping a magazine in because the grip is short.

My other handgun is a Taurus snub .38 revolver. Great little gun, and I used to be scary accurate with it. But now that my vision's gone to shit those days are over. Shooting it now just depresses me. :(
