Fullback. Was competing with Hillis.

The Bad Guy 04-13-2013 02:27 AM

How could Dorsey have dead money when he played out his contract without renegotiation?

The Bad Guy 04-13-2013 02:29 AM

The Star is also assuming every player hits all bonuses in these figures.

ChiefGator 04-13-2013 03:31 AM

LB Tamba Hali $12,250,000 $15,500,000
DB Eric Berry $7,009,000 $10,211,700
OL Branden Albert $9,828,000 $9,828,000
QB Alex Smith $7,500,000 $9,750,000
CB Brandon Flowers $7,350,000 $9,600,000

Some of those numbers are surprisingly high. Obviously, Albert's will come down with a new contract (or trade). Flowers' and Berry's pay is really quite high. I would be interested to see where their contracts place them in terms of other DB's.

Good thing about Tamba's is that it drops the next two years, so you probably try to play under that contract, unless he will take a pay cut.

Obviously, quite a bit of dead weight, which is the norm for switching GMs I would wager.

I thought they had to have about 5 million available for draft picks and udfa's. If so, somebody else is getting the axe.

BlackHelicopters 04-13-2013 06:39 AM

The dead money section is screwy. We have to pay fo Pioli's **** ups?

This is also the OOS cap so the IS cap will be worse when you add in practice squad and guys they end up carrying on IR.

edit: I also can't think of a reason why we'd be carrying dead money on Dorsey's contract. Did he renegotiate to back out a year at some point? I don't remember anything like that

They really don't need 5 million.

Everyone after the top 3 picks is basically making the league min, so they are just basically bumping 3 guys out of the top 51 spots, so there's no difference in salary.

I just don't buy the Stars current numbers.

Direckshun 04-13-2013 08:17 AM

Why are we paying Jerome Long?

So wait -- you're telling me that dudes get plucked off OUR waiver wire, and WE have to pay them.

I don't trust those numbers at all.

The top 51 count against the cap. Glenn Dorsey can't possibly have dead money here if he played out the contract. He wasn't cut.

That's what I was thinking.
