An all time favorite. But a contract like that with no production....writing was on the wall.

GL Berry. It was a pleasure.

Garafolo acting like Chiefs were tired of the day to day stuff last year because it was really in Berry’s hands if he played or not—pain management and what not.

GoHuge 03-13-2019 02:18 PM

Wow this is going to turn out really good or really bad. Couldn't get much worse than we were so I'm all for it!!

Yeah that's how i feel about it too.

Sucks to see the ol' dogs like Berry and Houston go out like that. But, Berry made a killing here. He's set for life thanks to the Chiefs.

-King- 03-13-2019 02:19 PM

Sadly had to happen. Was one of my 2 favorite players his time here next to JC. Sad how both of their careers ended here.

Yeah, especially if you only play in 3 games in two years.

After Tyrann was signed, it was over.

And you kinda knew that with the way Veach spoke about it two weeks ago.

"We have a plan for Eric Berry".

That plan is finding his replacement and cutting him.

I'm guessing we had some deal with Berry. He could have gotten surgery, and didn't, which allowed us to cut him.

These national football guys don't follow the sport very closely. The Berry era basically ended in 2016.

I may get flamed for this, but chronic pain is sometimes psychological. Berry has certainly been through hell and back that's for sure.

That said, at least the Chiefs handled it in a relatively classy way.

Perfect example of why people should never assume anything a coach or GM says about players as the reality.

Remember when eid said Berry was in their plans a few weeks ago and this place lost it?

Well they did a big video and promotion of his return. Then when he went back out again I guess they dropped him from all promotional materials. That was the point you knew they weren't thrilled.

By the end of the year it sure felt like Berry and Houston were just playing out their contracts w/o much fire. Although Houston rallied at the end of the year. But that kind of attitude is going to infect other players on the D. Players know when someone is just going through the motions and saying the right things vs. someone who is killing themselves to win a ring.

They were old dudes with serious injuries. Some guys come back from ACLs and Achilles and play like before. Some guys can't do it. Them's the breaks.

smithandrew051 03-13-2019 02:26 PM

Love the message here.

Veach and Reid just blew the defense the **** up this offseason. Being that bad and taking away one of Mahomes’s opportunities at a Super Bowl is unacceptable. Up or out.
