Tom Wilson suspended 20 games for this hit in the preseason... the media seems to think he has pretty good potential, but every time I see him he's being a douchebag.

I swear the play the Wild like 20 times per season.

Read something in THN about teams that have taken a big leap in the standings, and how a team like the Senators should have known by advanced stats how they weren't really a conference finals team, and shouldn't have gone all-in..... and they mentioned the Avalanche, Knights, and Devils, saying they all stayed the course this offseason and didn't do anything crazy.... and at the same time, missing the playoffs isn't necessarily a step back (unless they have like a 48 point season).

Thought it was an interesting take... even now I'm not sure what to think of the Golden Knights.

And as far as the Avalanche, I'm sadly looking forward to Saturday far more than the opener... **** the Wild.

If I was an Avalanche fan, this would be the greatest season ever. They can take a stab at getting in the playoffs and rolling the dice, while the Sens are floundering to a lottery pick. Imagine being a playoff team that drafts Jack Hughes 1st overall... Horrifying fail for Ottawa and Duchene, (who goes from one dumpster fire to another).

MMXcalibur 10-03-2018 09:45 PM

Penguins have had a full summer off, so I'm hoping that revitalizes them for another playoff run.

Seattle had to finalize their Arena reno before it became official, but yeah, this has been pretty obvious for a couple of years.
I can't believe I'm going to say this, but Bettman is improving the league. All he needs now is to save the Senators, (to keep the franchise prices where they are), and a significant upgrade in the TV contracts/ coverage.

I would rather seen the league move Edmonton and Calgary to the Central and Colorado to the Pacific for travel purposes, but whatever.

Well, as long as he's done expanding for a bit.

And I just saw a quote from him yesterday about the pending lockout in a couple seasons, saying "the players know when it expires, nothing is being done, it's in their court". :banghead:

It'll bring the Avalanche here more often. And hopefully they always play the Wild on Wednesday nights.

Yeah, something like 3-15 since mid-December, with an OT loss or two in there. :shake:

If it wasn't for the Stars and Knights winning a few games lately, the entire WC would be a dumpster fire.... they should just start the playoffs with the top two teams in each division, definitely no need for the wild cards.

On another note, the Leafs got Matthews signed... they have the money to sign Marner and Matthews will get his insane contract a couple years early.

The routine (for them) half-ice tape-to-tape passes they were missing in OT suggests there was a lot going wide.

It's pretty telling when you see those guys missing those passes. And not in a bad way, it tells me that both teams must have skated their living asses off in the 3rd.

Hats off to both teams, they really did leave it all on the ice.

Avs fans shouldn't be fans of the Matthews signing, (as a Leafs fan, I'm not fond of it) - it sets the table for all other RFAs getting big money and minimal term.
Rantanen & Co. will probably wait until the Leafs overpay Marner to negotiate their contract.
The Matthews deal has set a bad trend on contracts - IMO.

LMAO

And against the Jets of all teams... on the road. :spock:

The Leafs play in Phoenix tomorrow... I'd really like to see them live, but tickets that are normally $50-60 on the secondary market are $140+, since they jack up face value for "premier" games to like $180 for lower level.

I'd like to see the Leafs live too but the average price of a ticket in Toronto is $368.60.

The Leafs played in Vegas on Valentines Day and it looked like over 50% of the crowd were wearing Leaf jerseys.

Vegas tickets are insane, too.

Looks pretty packed in Phoenix, a lot of blue. Through the 1st period, not worth $275 it would have taken for a pair of lower level tickets.

IMO - Whether the Coyotes are playing a team on the end of a back to back, or against a team that's just played Vegas, it doesn't seem to doesn't seem matter. There will be a hangover either way.
That said, it's a good thing you didn't go see it live. It seemed like a pretty slow and clunky game overall.

I'm actually happy that he's getting out of the shithole that is Ottawa. I was a bit sour on him for how he left the Avs, but he served his punishment. I'm also glad we'll almost certainly get a huge player for him in next year's draft.

Certainly helps solidify the Sens' draft position, he's having a pretty decent year.
