Watching the Opening Ceremonies when they show the # of athletes relative to the total population for each country, it’s striking how some countries underachieve relative to their population.

Slovenia has 17 times more athletes than Congo despite the fact they have a population of about 2 million vs. 100+ million in Congo.

Some countries just don’t have the facilities, history, money, culture or setup
