Osweiler is 6’7”. Russell Wilson is 5’11”. Drew Brees is only 6’. Who would you rather have.

Height is overrated. QBs throw between defenders, not directly over their heads.

Weight is also overrated. A lot of QBs come into the league looking like a street corner teenager. Tom Brady looked like shit.

If you don’t think being under 5’10” is a legitimate concern, I don’t know what to tell you. The two guys you listed are the exceptions to the rule and even they are significantly taller than Murray.

Yeah there is a huge difference between 5'8" and 5'10" when it comes to a QB. You habe tall lineman blocking for you and you also have tall pass rushers running at you with their arms up. Being really short is going to make it extremely difficult on him and he will have a hard time seeing down the field and will probably have a ton of batted down passes.

There are a million reasons QBs fail. A good QB will overcome any physical limitation.

Height? Russ/Brees
Strength? Brady
Athleticism? Brady/Manning
Arm strength? Montana
police? Big Ben

My point is that 99% of quarterbacks fail. You can always point to a reason. The reason is that succeeding is a confluence of factors, the ultimate organization and hierarchy of which is totally unknown to even the top experts.

Nobody knows why one QB sucks and another one is amazing. So, they point to the few factors they CAN measure.

I agree with what you’re saying for the most part, but we’re talking about a guy that is well below even Russ/Brees.

That’s a legitimate concern and there’s no other way around it.

Every other good QB you can come up with would be a different QB if they were ****ing 5’8”. To suggest otherwise is foolish.

Not that I give a shit about the A's. But $210,000 is 4-5 years earnings for millions of people and he's getting it for not making up his mind. SMH.

4-5 years? Yikes...

Two things... 1) OU's line was HUGE.. bigger than most NFL lines...

2) It's a DIFFERENT game. QB's don't get hit like they used to.

It's true that QBs don't get hit like they used to. Unless they run. Which Murray does. A lot.

Lol what?

There is a suggustion floating around that the Cheating Donx are going to trade Miller, plus their # 2 to switch draft places with the 49'ers.

Dumb decision

TwistedChief 02-11-2019 05:55 PM

Obviously the right move for him. Gets paid a lot more guaranteed at the outset and still has the opportunity to transition to baseball in a few years if he flames out (most likely).

Think about it: in a year you can have more money and be competing for a starting NFL QB job or be in high single A/maybe AA riding the bus and dreaming of the majors.

It's not even particularly close.

Hope he saves his NFL rookie contract, because it's going to be the last paycheck he gets that doesn't involve selling insurance or working for a relative.
