Let's give him a real QB again.

I'll take Maclin for cheaper.

JFC, we are still months away from the 2014 free agency period and people are already looking at 2015.

Is it your money the Chiefs are spending?

I'll never understand coupon fans trying to budget for an NFL team.

A. He's not a cap buster

B. We've got guys who will clear a shit ton of room when they leave (Albert, Lewis)

C. Clark Hunt is rich as ****

D. I want a Super Bowl winning team, not a Kmart team

Super Bowl 12-19-2013 11:59 PM

you really think Jordy isn't going to command a large contract?

I think Maclin has every bit the talent Jordy has and he'll come at a nice discount coming off that injury.

Strongside 12-19-2013 11:59 PM

Not gonna happen. Green Bay is going to give that dude a mountain of cash and women next year.

CoMoChief 12-20-2013 12:00 AM

Let's trade for Aquib Talib while we're at it!!!

I bring it up in the event that he's a trade target. Obviously it's early.

I'm not sure who else the Pack has coming due in '15, so if there's a chance he's available, I'd like to snag him.

No, he's not as good as Jordy. Yes, I'd like to have Maclin, if his knee still functions.

I wanted to, 2-3 years ago.

Now, we've got Knile and Gray (and Chad m'fn Hall some weeks!!).

The ship has sailed on Darren unfortunately.

We do need a stud WR opposite Bowe, though.

Maybe the Chiefs could spin their 2014 1st into a future 1st and hope it turns into a top five selection so they can keep DGB home.

The best thing about catching a Saints game, . . . 'shit that Sproles is spry!!'

Love watching that guy play, might not be a titan of the league, but he's distinctive and exciting to watch.

If I were cabbaging off Saints' roster, #1 would be their TE, tho.

Brooklyn 12-20-2013 06:48 AM

much more likely that James Jones is a FA target in this off-season.

Pasta Little Brioni 12-20-2013 06:51 AM

SNR will not stand for a white WR

Eleazar 12-20-2013 07:37 AM

Maclin or Nelson would be nice additions. Maclin might turn out to be the more affordable, but bringing these two guys in would probably be huge for the offense.

Saul Good 12-20-2013 08:37 AM

I prefer Maclin, but either would be great.

Chief Roundup 12-20-2013 08:42 AM

Jordy is their #1 WR there is very little chance they let him escape.

Saul Good 12-20-2013 09:06 AM

What WRs have left great QBs for average QBs and gone on to have success?

Bambi 12-20-2013 09:09 AM

Nelson is far superior to Maclin. Would he work in KC? Who knows but for the right price it's definitely something to be interested in.

KCFaninSEA 12-20-2013 09:24 AM

The one thing about the Packers is they do seem to be deep at WR. If they think they have the next Nelson already on their roster it makes sense to let him go get his money and keep the cheaper guy. They can't pay Jones, Nelson and Cobb all top dollar.

I'm not. I'm speculating that we take action BECAUSE he will be a FA in'15.

The same way we debated trading BA the past two offseasons, prior to franchising him.

No he is not their numbers are very similar. GB will not let Nelson go, Maclin IMO is a realistic option.

Do you think he's got a chance to be an elite WR in the NFL? I don't get to watch a lot of Mizzou football.

Jeremy
Games: 59
Rec: 257
Yards: 3,442
Avg: 13.4
Long: 83
TD's: 26

Jordy
Games: 87
Rec: 289
Yards: 4,383
Avg: 15.2
Long: 93
TD's: 36

With only 32 more career receptions, Jordy has 950 more yards, 10 more TD's, and 2 yard longer average. And two working knees.

I'd love to have both dudes on the roster, don't get me wrong.

Jordy is better than Maclin, though.

RealSNR 12-20-2013 10:26 AM

Are there seriously people who would rather have Maclin than Nelson on this team?

Good lord.

Maclin would obviously be a great fit for Reid.

Most people think of Jordy as a big, slow possession receiver. But he consistently catches the deep ball, and is deceptively fast.

Whatever. I'm full homer.

But still. He would not suck in our system.

Mr. Laz 12-20-2013 02:38 PM

I wanted Jordy Nelson in the draft but now getting him is just going to take too much.

we just have to get in the habit of drafting guys.

QB - take regularly
WR/CB/S need to draft big athletic guys each year, the ones that don't work should still improve our special teams.

bowener 12-20-2013 02:46 PM

I think Maclin will look at KC as a great fit. He already knows the O so obviously he can step in and contribute right away. He knows Andy, and it seems just about every former player of Andy loves him.

I like Maclin as well, but if it comes down to between Maclin and Nelson, you take Nelson and don't bat an eye.

Either of these guys would be a massive upgrade to the position, though (provided Maclin can return to 90% of his former self, of course).

He's the most physically gifted player I have ever seen put on a uniform in any Missouri sport.

If he gets a good WR coach his floor should be AJ Green with Calvin Johnson upside.

lcarus 12-20-2013 08:01 PM

I'd take Maclin or Nelson. Very good WRs. I think they'd fit in here nicely. Both played college nearby. Speaking of WRs who played nearby, what happened to Dezmon Briscoe? I figured he'd turn out to be a pretty good NFL receiver.

Nope, you were right. A quick wiki search says he got hurt in the last preseason game for the Redskins and was put on IR.

Briscoe is still just 24. Had a good year in 2011. He should get another shot.

Report: Jordy Nelson’s looking for $10 million a year

Jordy Nelson is definitely a wide receiver.

And he wants to get paid like one of the best.

According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com, a source familiar with the negotiations said Nelson wants a deal “worth at least $10 million per season.”

Nelson’s currently working on the final year of the three-year, $12.6 million deal he signed in 2011, and his $4.2 million per season average is 34th among all receivers.

And since he signed that deal early during the 2011 season, he’s averaged 67 catches, 1,107 yards and 10 touchdowns per season.

With Roddy White cashing in with the Falcons today, the bar was raised again for Nelson, who just turned 29 years old.

The Packers would like to keep Nelson and Randall Cobb (who is also up for free agency after this season), but they might find themselves in a spot where they can afford one or the other, but not both.
Would love to find a way to get him here (his home); not sure how the dollars would work with the Poe, Berry, Houston, Smith, and DJ deals all looming.

Dollars we could free up would be - Succup, Fasano, Hali... who else?

ThaVirus 07-25-2014 10:25 AM
