Considering that he’s only started like 1 game, that’s pretty incredible.

Nick gets media attention for being a stud- Spags cuts his snaps to the lowest of the season.

That's because the Chiefs were defending the pass.

It's OK for Chief Fan to admit Sorensen and Niemann are better in coverage than Nick.

I wanted to drop by this thread to say that I love watching Nick Bolton tackle people. He tackles like a linebacker should. He hits hard and wraps up.

Been a long time since we had one of those. Even though DJ was a good tackler, he was far from a hard hitter. Bolton seems to know when to go for the hard hit and when to wrap up for the sure tackle. And sometimes he even does both lol.

Coochie liquor 11-20-2021 03:43 PM

Bolton is gonna be my next jersey. Love the way he plays. Can’t wait to see how he progresses over the next few years. Kinda reminds me of Zack Thomas.

ThyKingdomCome15 11-20-2021 04:13 PM

Stud! He is the third best rookie on the team. Bolton is a heat seeking missile out there. He has instilled a level of toughness that has been lacking since DJ retired. Him and Melvin Ingram have been two massive additions to this unit since the Super Bowl.

New game, we're taking it all this year. I laugh when teams run it now. This defense is taking it to the next level. Over the last month it's been top 10 overall. The slow start was dreadful but it's found itself.

Don’t forget Thornhill. And idgaf... I’m willing to die on this hill.... Powell is gonna be a really good receiver for us in the not too distant future. I think he’s gonna be that x receiver we’ve been hoping Gordon would be. He was one of my favorite picks, just think he has to grow into the role, and learn the offense before Andy and Pat trust him.

He's buried deep on the depth chart. Even Fountain is above him and he's not recorded a single snap. This is basically a red shirt season for him. Next year he'll have to grow a lot to stay with the team.

I really hope Bolton is the Mike tomorrow, against Zeke and Pollard we really need him in there to shut those guys down!

I get having Hitch in there last week, the Raiders run game isnt anything to worry about.

This game is different, we need more Bolton!

JakeF 11-20-2021 09:12 PM

Bolton has been a key component in our improvement on defense. He's active and physical, something we sorely missed at LB. I just hope that Gay can stay healthy now.

No reason to think this will happen. Every week since Hitch has been back Bolton has gotten less and less snaps. Spags is doing his best cry baby vermeil coaching, playing his favorites not the best talent.

Pretty good comparison. Gay is like a DJ at the same point in his career. Bolton will remind people of DJ just because we havent had an instinctual line backer in years.

That is true, i was but a boy then. Well a man boy. I was more worried about getting a date friday night than what DJ was doing at that point in my life. So ill take your word. I just remember a young DJ being able to fly around but over pursuing several times.

Kiimo 12-22-2021 03:07 PM

DJ was thought of as a bust for nearly two years.

Then suddenly the light came on and suddenly everyone on the other side of the line was in big big trouble.

Gay looks better earlier than DJ, Gay looks like DJ year 3.

Bolton looks nothing like DJ in my opinion.

Not really accurate, IMO. DJ and Dwayne Bowe went from disappointing to studs during Haley’s tenure. And I’m not really sure that Charles had yet established himself as a star when Haley first took over.

Pittsburgh chatter during this time was this was a proposition gone wrong

Quote:

Per CBS- Report: Steelers' Todd Haley 'shattered' his pelvis during New Year's Eve incident
By Sean Wagner-McGough Jan 4, 2018 • 2 min read
Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley's hip injury, which he reportedly suffered when he was shoved outside a bar on New Year's Eve, is more serious than we initially assumed. On Thursday, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Ed Bouchette reported that Haley "shattered" his pelvis during the incident. Despite the injury, Haley was able to return to work on Wednesday after spending two days in the hospital.

When Haley spoke to reporters on Thursday, he described the incident as a "situation" and a "non-issue," but he declined to take questions.

"A few nights ago unfortunately I was in a situation," Haley said, per the Post-Gazette. "The situation, though not of my doing, has been made clear to me by the Steelers that it is a non-issue to both the team and the Steelers organization.

"My sole focus is on preparing for next week's playoff game, so it won't be addressed further."

And so, that's that. Haley doesn't appear to be willing to provide clarity to the report that emerged Tuesday, when NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported that Haley suffered a hip injury outside a bar near Heinz Field, where he was shoved. The situation is confusing because police told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo that Haley's wife was involved in a "minor scuffle" inside the bar, but that there weren't any injuries sustained in that incident. Police also told Garafolo that they have no information about the situation that happened outside, which is where he reportedly suffered the injury.

Despite the odd circumstances and the severity of the injury, Haley said he doesn't think the situation will be a distraction to the team as they prep for their opening playoff game on Sunday, January 14.

"Once we step into this building everybody's really focused on trying to be the best we can be," he said. "We got a tight group of guys and I think when you have outside things that could fracture you it either divides you or brings you closer together. In our case, we've just grown tighter as a group. When you're tight, you care about each other, you're usually at your best."

Haley has been at his post since 2012. In each of the past four seasons, the Steelers have finished as a top-10 scoring team. Haley was expected to draw some interest as a head coaching candidate.

Ok yeah, just vaguely remember this reporting... I apparently forgot about the injury, and its weird how different the two reports are

I'm guessing the Rooneys called in every favor they could to keep it under wraps... just not really seeing anything that proves he was trying to "give" his wife to the other guy though

Kiimo 12-22-2021 05:38 PM

I have no proof other than the persistent rumors for years that they were into that.

I have zero judgement morally either, it's just kind of embarrassing for a public figure to (if true) have to resort to approaching strangers in a bar on NYE night.

His career trajectory post-Pittsburgh kinda says it all about him though, just a straight nosedive... a once highly prized NFL OC, now coaching high school :shake:

Graphic is wrong. He had 11 TFL, not 21. Still it's really ****ing good considering most of the leaders in TFL have a very significant amount of those numbers coming from sacks and Bolton had 0 sacks.

I really think they should take sacks out of the TFL stats. Alot of the guys leading the category are only leading because of their sack numbers. 0 of Bolton's 11 TFL came from sacks. I think he would have led the league if sacks didn't count.
