He has played out of his mind this year and I am ecstatic that he broke Bench's record. I would love to see him break Soler's as well. But outside HR's and RBIs, Vlad Jr. leads him in every other statistical category. Vlad has a higher BA, more hits, higher SLG, higher OBA which combines for a higher OPS, more walks (by a lot), fewer strikeouts (by a lot), and a higher WAR. Perez has been outstanding this year and it's not taking anything away from him by acknowledging that while acknowledging that Vlad Jr. has had a better season at the plate than him and more deserving of MVP (although in this case it's irrelevant because it's probably going to Ohtani).

Salvy breaking the Royals tomorrow would be perfect considering its the anniversary of this:

Seeing Perez hit 48 homers makes me realize how crazy the Bonds/Sosa/McGwire era really was. 73 fricking home runs is nuts.

Had a lot more horsepower behind those swings, if you know what I mean.

Well, they did have "help" and they played in smaller ballparks.

Vladito is great.

He also benefits from hitting in a great home ballpark for home runs and a great division for home run hitters.

Perez would have 3-4 more home runs, just based on batted ball distance, playing his home games at Rogers Centre instead of the K.

Vladito would have 3-4 fewer home runs playing at the K instead of Rogers Centre.
