So is Landon Collins the official “trade for him Veach” flavor of the week?
Starting to be more and more mentions of him being a possible trade target on Twitter. I wouldn’t be against it depending on what they want. Dude is a stud and he dominated us last year (sorry to bring it up). Any chance it happens?
|
Why would they trade Collins?
|
If he's actually available, Veach will be on him like flies on shit.

Hello if it's officially trending, give me credit for mentioning it awhile ago tia

They probably need to load up on draft picks to move up in the draft to nab a QB. |
I've literally never heard of him, I just read OP and went right down here to comment.
DO IT VEACH. |
He won't be cheap

They'll want at least a 1st. Dude's only 24 and been to two Pro Bowls.
|
His mom will be displeased if he's not traded to the Chiefs.
|
I've never really made my mind up on Collins and I think it's an "Alabama Defensive Back" thing.
They've just had so many guys come out of that secondary (hell, their LB corps as well) who end up stiffs in coverage and spend time looking for someone to hit rather than playing smart. And because of that impression, I always just assume he's more of a box safety and big hitter type. I'm not sure if that's accurate and would be open to persuasion either way. He's just never been a guy where I've thought "yeah, there's a dude that can transform a defense..." Thomas, setting aside questions of durability, compensation and draft pick cost, absolutely was that kind of player. He allows you to play schemes that you simply can't play without a remarkably athletic, intelligent player capable of killing it as a single-high. Collins, OTOH, has always just struck me as a steady safety in a regular ol' safety mold. |

If I were Veach I'd cut my balls off and deliver them in a pizza box, if that's what they want!

But, I've seen reports that he'll be asking for around what EB is getting and I don't know if the Giants will agree to pay it. If I were Veach, I'd at least make the call and see but ultimately hold out hope that the team doesn't start to derail before Sorensen and Berry return. |
Only 3000 posts until he's traded for. Let's make it HAPPEN!!

As of right now....the Giants have $18 million in cap space next season. Now, they can get $17 million if they cut Eli.....but they'd basically be starting a rookie QB then....where ever they find one.

Because that's the only kind of safety worth shelling out big money for anymore. The rest of them are so damn fungible; they're shifting skills around in the margins. If your safeties suck (ours probably do) then it's worth spending a million or two for a credible veteran option like Tre Boston. But once you get above a thresshold level of competence, you're getting quickly diminishing returns unless the guy is someone like Earl Thomas and can play a style of game that's uniquely well suited to this era of football. Even a healthy Eric Berry isn't worth $13 million anymore because he's not that kind of safety. If Collins is a poor man's Berry (or even healthy Berry himself), I can't see any reason why we should give him that kind of jack. |

He's a well-rounded player. |

I didn't realize it's only his 4th season, thought he was older for some reason. I doubt the Giants would trade him but it would be awesome if they did.

I think Veach trades for someone before the deadline

I think someone should do a poll for the next "trade for" thread. I'll start:
Antoine Bethea Cards going nowhere. This guy is older (by NFL standards), but leads his team in tackles this year and by all accounts is still playing like a stud. He would be a major upgrade at free safety. And his contract is reasonable (3/4 of base for this year & base only next year, via trade). Stopgap for this year and possibly next year.: https://i.imgur.com/ytvtUnU.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ytvtUnU.jpg |

If it trends on Twitter, it must be true! Just bought my Super Bowl tickets. With Collins in the secondary and Berry coming back for the AFCG, we can't lose.

It's all going to depend if the Giants want to resign Collins. If they don't there's not a reason why they wouldn't trade him here.
Bathea and Honey Badger seem like the most logical candidates if they want to resign Collins. If they get Bathea might as well try to get Boston too. |
I'll always remember Landon Collins from a podcast from that dumbass Scottish guy...con...cau something fahi..faway what the hell is his name?
He jizzed all over Landon Collins and said Eric Berry sucks. |
If they’d take a 2nd, do it

I’d take Collins over a healthy Earl Thomas any day!!!

i think i've been on this for months...
i even said i'd give a first for him when earl thomas came up... he's available |
He's younger so I'd be ok extending him.
|
At this point, the way our D is playing, I'd bring Ryan Shazier in for a look.

Nah, not giving up a first for him.
He needs a new contract that would be pretty large. No ones moving a first for that. If I was gonna give up a first and a new contract to someone, it'd be CLowney. |

JUST MAKE A BIG MOVE VEACH!!!!! |
At this point, I don't care.
Bring him in, don't bring him in, in Mahomes we trust! |
Well....the Giants lost again. We had a couple safeties get injured. It's like the universe is pushing us together.
