50 years ago today

“65 Toss Power Trap” became the most famous words in franchise history.

Otis Taylor broke Earsoll Macbee’s shoulder and high stepped into the end zone to clinch it.

Hank Stram being “Mic’ed Up” became some of the greatest audio in NFL history.

The journey for 2 starts tomorrow.

Let’s go get it, lads.

I want to be alive for the greatest run in Chiefs history.

We ALL need this.

Have fun storming the castle!

P.S. "Earsell Mackbee" is how his name was spelled, I believe.

KCUnited 01-11-2020 07:55 AM

I want Hank Stram's laugh as my ringtone after we win the SB.

You’re correct. From memory I thought for sure I was correct. Time seems to do that to a memory.

Either way, he was no match for Otis Taylor down the sideline.

I wasn't even a tadpole in my dad's nutsack. I really feel for you older guys, not that I don't have my own "fond" memories..

I remember when 50 years ago seemed like a long time...then I turned 49 in December of 2019...the Chiefs have never been to the SB in my lifetime...and damn, that means for me it has never happened.

THIS. MUST. BE. THE. YEAR...

Flying High D 01-11-2020 08:45 AM

Because, Chiefs. Mom moved us from Pleasant Hill, MO to Mountain Home, AR Halloween weekend ‘69. Thanks mom.

I was eight years old for Super Bowl I and remember watching it with my dad. I clearly remember the day of Super Bowl IV. It was a real cold day like today with snow on the ground here in KC. I watched the game with my dad, and he was whooping and hollering afterwards because he was so happy. I went down to the lake at the end of our street and played hockey with some of the neighborhood kids, and we were all excited that the Chiefs won. Then came the playoff loss to Miami in 71 and it all went dark for a long long long time. My dad passed a week after the 2011 loss to Baltimore in the playoffs at Arrowhead. He never got to see them in the Super Bowl again.

We got close last year. Sure hope this year is our year. I'm 60 now. Don't have another 50 years to get this close again.
