****Official Mizzou Football 2022-2023 Thread****
Here’s the Tigers’ full schedule:
Sept. 1: Louisiana Tech, 7PM W Sept. 10: at Kansas State, 11:00AM Sept. 17: Abilene Christian, 11:00AM Sept. 24: at Auburn, time TBD Oct. 1: Georgia, time TBD Oct. 8: at Florida, time TBD Oct. 15: Bye Oct. 22: Vanderbilt, time TBD Oct. 29: at South Carolina, time TBD Nov. 5: Kentucky, time TBD Nov. 12: at Tennessee, time TBD Nov. 19: New Mexico State, time TBD Nov. 25: Arkansas, 2:30 p.m. I found the schedule, so I figured that now is as good of a time as any to start a new thread. Coach Drink has done well turning around the mess that Odom left behind. Solid recruiting has our best commit class in years coming in this year. The schedule isn't bad. A bowl game should be a given. I would like to see 9 -10 wins this year, with one of the wins coming against Arkansas. I really don't like losing to Odom. Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz called it the best recruiting class ever for the Tigers. Sure enough, Mizzou's current class is ranked No. 11 by ESPN, No. 14 by 247 Sports and No. 17 by Rivals, the highest in program history |
I think it actually may be our highest ranked class ever. Maybe.
|
One of my favorite wins in recent history was at Faurot Field.

Georgia 2. Combination of Kentucky/Tennessee 3. Whoever isn't 2 4. Mizzou 5. Florida 6. South Carolina 7. Vanderbilt I personally don't think Georgia is anywhere near close to as they were last season, but am hesitant to put Kentucky at 1 and don't believe Heupel has the recruits to dethrone Georgia (yet). I don't think the toughest part of Georgia's schedule is until the end of October through November (playing Tennessee, Miss St. and UK in 3 consecutive weeks with 2 back-to-back road games after playing UF doesn't seem easy). Their game against Oregon should be a decent measuring stick as to where they are. I think Drink's recruiting results are promising, but it takes time to develop and replace Odom's guys. Same story with Napier and Florida. I think South Carolina is overrated as ****. I'm predicting Mizzou will go 7-5 or 8-4 with a 3-5 or 4-4 SEC record (likely loss to UGA as well as Tennessee on the road and likely W vs Vandy and somehow get 2 or 3 more wins against rest). |

Where you been, lil fella? You’ve got some work to do on the KU basketball thread. You talked shit before the tourney, and good golly Miss Molly, did you take it up the tailpipe. We are owed a return trip, no? |

Basketball and football, no. I just enjoy my alma mater somehow having won 6 of 7 vs Mizzou and 7 of 8 vs South Carolina. The South Carolina one is more entertaining, IMO. Might need to make a trip with some friends from Nashville to go to CoMo this year. Quote:
Both sad results. 2018 the offense wasn't up to par and 2021 Georgia was on a different planet. Oh well. Quote:
I was on a 10 day trip during the St. Peter's loss and was in Vegas during that time. The St. Peter's loss wasn't even the worst thing that happened to me during that trip, either. I had to take an Uber from the Strip to an urgent care my second day in Vegas due to complications from hiking 18 miles in the Grand Canyon in 1 day. Blisters are a ****ing pain in the ass. |
I don't know what to expect this season, but Drinkwitz has to get a lot more from the QB position this year.

It’ll all come down to Cook, Macon, and maybe Horn. Can’t say I’ve been impressed with the first 2 but they could make a jump.
Without Badie I’m extremely nervous about the offense. |

I had to get antibiotics. |

Given the way he’s chased meh QBs in the portal it’s clear he doesn’t like what he has On the positive it was obvious watching the spring game we have more talent ready to play than we did last year The schedule is hard unless Cook takes a quantum leap 6-6 will be a challenge. |
Cautiously optimistic. Can’t wait to see what Burden can do, hopefully the defense doesn’t need the first 6 weeks of the season to figure things out again
|
7 wins and several posters in here will question Drinks job
|
Louisiana Tech is always tricky but SEC refs and their bad luck will cost them the win.
Abilene Christian is a FCS school. Easy win. New Mexico State is basically FCS level too. Kansas State game is an intriguing matchup for neutral fans like myself. |
Well, no Tigers drafted yet. But we should see a couple today. If Badie makes it to the 7th, I wouldn't mind him coming to KC.

Wonder what his NIL deal is? Drink and boosters been stepping up.
|
Hell yeah boys.
|
I read another article that Sam Horn could get drafted high to play baseball and could be lured away if an MLB team makes him a good effort. Hopefully not, and likely not going to happen. Horn is supposedly football first. But it's nice to have Johnson on board if it does.
|
Just a few days after reviving our collective interest in the class of 2023, Drink has added another key piece to his next recruiting class. Reaching deep into the Pacific Northwest, Drink and Bush Hamdan secured the commitment of four-star QB Gabarri Johnson.
This is a big get for a number of reasons. First, a highly coveted QB is always an eye-opener. Second, with the football future of Sam Horn in question, Drink appears to be reshuffling his long-term plans for the position. Johnson would fit nicely into the equation, especially if Drinkwitz brings on a one-year transfer. Third, the timing of this commitment suggests Mizzou has the ability to get the guys they want. Johnson was only offered by Mizzou on April 8 and just recently visited campus. That’s a whirlwind recruitment for a guy nearly 2,000 miles away from CoMo. Get to know: Gabarri Johnson Hometown: Tacoma, Wa. High School: Lincoln Position: QB Ht/Wt: 6’1”, 190 lbs. Rivals Ranking: 4-star, 5.8 247Composite Ranking: 4-star, 0.9045 Total announced offers: 9 Offers to note: Arizona State, Arkansas, Oregon, Utah, Washington |
****ing Drink can recruit that's for sure.
|
Nice get.

Bump so that the old 2020 thread that got bumped yesterday can be retired.
|
Good to see us getting KC kidd again. Surprised Mizzou didn't go after Doss hard think he's going to be a real good player. Green the OL is the prize out of KC for this recruiting class IMO think OU gets him
|
Sounding like Joshua Manning the WR from Lee's Summit will be going to Mizzou. That's a great get.
|
I presume y'all noticed that Horn went undrafted yesterday. Not because of talent, but because of signability and the belief across baseball that he wanted to go to college. He was considered a solid 2nd day talent at least by most folks.
Glad to see we held onto him. That would've been a heck of a blow. |

Burden, Cooper, Lovett and eventually Manning (if things go to script) -- all of them young 4* or better guys. Drink really is doing some damn nice work. I'd be super-excited but/for the possibility of any of them getting purchased by some booster out of Texas at any given moment. !@#$ing stupid NIL crap. |
Manning was said to be announcing this afternoon.
Drink's response... <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="zxx" dir="ltr"><a href="https://t.co/2o9fXFzRti">pic.twitter.com/2o9fXFzRti</a></p>— Eliah Drinkwitz (@CoachDrinkwitz) <a href="https://twitter.com/CoachDrinkwitz/status/1550230385040277506?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">July 21, 2022</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> How can you not love the guy? |
I love Drinks recruiting but he needs to prove to me that he can get it done on the field on Saturdays. So far it seems like he has all of Pinkels negatives and none of his positives. Ex: Sticking with Bazelak even when it was clear he was injured and not 100 percent. That was a Pinkel move.

Thats a hell of a get congrats you guys. Manning was my third favorite WR at the Friday Night Lights camp in Lincoln. Coleman being 1, Miller 2, and Manning 3. Mannings athleticism was off the charts maybe even a little better than Colemans. The 2 guys I listed ahead of him are both top 100 guys too.
With Manning + Burden and the QB you got that's going to be a really fun offense. I wouldn't worry too much about the NIL stuff though I'm not familiar with your NIL program. Missouri being the only school in the state essentially+SEC money and I'd be willing to wager you'll have some winning seasons ahead of you very hard to see any of your top talent going anywhere else other than the NFL. |
QB and WR room getting really crowded. Skill positions under drink are rivaling Alabama and Georgia, among others.
Our NIL collectives are already some of the best in the country. A lot of money from Mizzou making us competitive with other schools. So glad we aren't still crossing our fingers for a sloppy seconds conference invite like some other schools. |

Sometimes I forget Mizzou has a football team until I see this thread get a bump. And based on it being three pages long, it obviously doesn’t happen often.

But yeah, it's weird that a thread started after spring football ended, before fall camp started, in the middle of the quietest period of the year for the sport, has only a few pages of replies. Thanks. And now we'll go back to celebrating swaying a highly regarded local recruit who at one time looked sure to commit to another local school. K thanks byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! |
Here's the thread for this season. I'm not sure why the 2020 thread was bumped.
|
Does this ****ing announcer know a saying other than quicker than a hiccup
|
Missouri being in the East still annoys me. But hey we have the Big 12 with 10 and the Big 10 with 14.
|
LMAO That play probably encapsulates the entire season when we look back. A giant cluster**** but Burden pulls it out of the fire somehow.

It’s nice to have those 5 Star athletes! |

Offense actually looks good after the first 2 drives.

The Defense looks great so far. Cya ****in' later, Wilks. |
Terrible turnover last drive.
|
Well Burden is good.
|
LMAO Well, if all else fails at least Burden will be a joy to watch.
|
Strap in for the Luther Burden show. It’s gonna be a good one!
|
Another year of Mizzou giving up big plays defensively. Big plays have always haunted this team.
|
Ugh! That was some horrible defense. How do leave a guy so wide open that he runs free for a 75 yard TD???
|
So much for that solid defense.
Well, time for the Luther Burden show again . . . . . |
Drink always has a terrible defense and will be a huge reason he never wins 8 or 9 games in a season at Mizzou.
|
It was one ****ing play when guys were out of position LMAO
|
I feel like the color commentators for these non-con early games always suck, but BOY this dude has to be one of the worst.
