I think this is a tactic so when players bitch about 18 games they'll be like oh see we offered you a way to not play that but you didn'tike it.

I think they are going to find a way to lengthen the season one way or another, it's free money to them. This is just a fig leaf that lets them claim they care about the impact on the players.

They could go to 18 games if they eliminated 2 preseason games. I think everyone would be on board with that except maybe the union, and even then it's only a question of dollars.
