Got the dog "de-snaked" on Saturday... (56k stay away)

We take the dog out from time to time to hunt, and around here there are rattlesnakes. There is this program not far from us that "de-snakes" your dog, that is, use a little shock therapy to prevent your dog from going near rattlesnakes and other snakes.

All in all it was interesting and there were quite a few dogs there, including a couple other German Wirehair Pointers (my breed). I thought a couple of the smaller ones were going to be launched into orbit when they got zapped. ROFL

Pics to follow...

I have to say I was disappointed I was looking forward to seeing a dog 4 ft in the air legs all askew, clearly letting out a yip and it's hair standing on end.

Some of the dogs actually did that, but I am not that good at action photography, especially with a slow shutter digital camera.

Most of the dogs just yelped and ran away from the snake.

If you take your dog to be "de-snaked"....

You might be a red _ _ _ _

I had no idea that you're a dog.

It's a proximity-shocker thing. When the dog gets too close to the snake, the shock-receiver around the dog's neck goes off.

It's not on the tail, either.

aaahh
i imagined a much less humane gadget
