2nd thought about Glennon

Having a 2nd thought about the Long Necked Goose here guys ..... Not to change my desire to have Geno at # 1, but this UNC game showed me more of Glennon that I wasn't aware of. To be fair to Glennon, I really haven't given him to much credit and this game was a reason why I have a different opinion of him.

He has poor receivers, guys with stone hands. Now a lot of this could be the heat behind his throws, but the accuracy is there. He has a cannon for an arm and fits the prototypical style under center pocket passer in the NFL.

If the kids has it upstairs, he's going to move up the draft charts if he has a better than average combine, long neck and all.

Just a few things to watch and see here on this video......

1:30 Nice throw
2:30 Back to Back over the middle, taking what the D allows
3:05 , a very nice pass
3:55 ...again
4:25 nice throw
5:20 a BOMB ! 60 + yards, roll out of the pocket allows the receiver to break away and a perfect hit in stride.
Funny the commentator says a little half roll by the receiver when it was a fly pattern / or go route which ever you wish to call it.
6:20
6:30
6:57
10:12 Perfect long ball in stride
10:35 Another perfect long ball in stride

Rest of the video was a lot of bad passes as well as stupid throws.

For the most part I came away with a different view of Glennon. A good QB coach can work with this kid. I came away with the feeling he has more upside than downside.

The kid will go 1st round for sure, depending on how he grades at the combine, no worst than the 4th or 5th QB taken.

If I may compare him to another gangly QB in Osweiler...

Osweiler had all the bad shitty throws and **** ups that Glennon had, all without Glennon's long ball accuracy. However, Glennon is still inconsistent on that throw as well as his intermediate sideline throws.

Glennon appears to be the perfect project QB. In other words, not at ALL what the Chiefs should be interested in. If I drafted this guy I wouldn't even THINK about letting him near the starting line up.

Sweet. Take him in the third after we draft Geno. Trade him for a first in three years.

I think I mentioned a good QB coach with the post.

Did you watch the video at all, he was nailing many receivers in the hands, in stride and got many drops.

Sure he was off on several throws, what QB coming out of college isn't? Even Geno , of whom we all like so much has to learn to be a under center QB, just as RG3 had to learn.

I think comparing him to Big Os is unfair, Glennon IMHO is more accurate & the long ball separates them a lot. I do think he will have to bulk up some to withstand the punishment of the NFL.

Somebody is going to take this kid in the 1st and if they have a good QB coach, he has a chance to do well in the NFL.

We take Geno and let him learn to be a NFL QB.

Glennon will go long before the 3rd round, he will go in the 1st.

Glennon doesn't seem to have "it"

No QB in this class has really proven to have the "it" wow factor.

This is mainly because their surrounding cast and coaches all suck.

Noe of the QB's in this class have shown the "it" factor like RG3, Matt Ryan or Luck did.

Compared to GenoAkili Smith, I'd be ecstatic.

I'm getting so ****ing tired of hearing "No QB is like Luck, or RGIII this year!" NO ****ING SHIT! THEY'RE ONCE IN A GENERATION QB'S!

JFC, people have gone full reerun over those two.

bevischief 12-22-2012 07:01 AM

This place as a whole have gone full reerun lately.

You do realize that Geno played under center his sophomore year so the he has experience and that RGIII is currently playing mostly a variation of the pistol/spread offense right?

Also, too risky to trade picks for RG3.

Yep, but he is going to have to play it more soon to stay in the league. History speaks of this, few running, gunning pistol packing QB's stick around long.

Geno's a rolex. Now you can't tell quite yet if he's a real rolex or a fake one, but there's a chance he's a real one. Glennon's a timex. No chance he's ever going to be a rolex. He's always going to be a timex. And that's okay if that's all you want, if you're willing to settle for that.

Understand your concerns, but there is a lot to work with in Glennon.

Does he have it upstairs to learn is the next question, can he adapt to the NFL speed and get good coaching from a quality QB coach not forcing balls when they should not go and becoming more consistent.

Prospect ? Yes, with more upside than I first gave him. I'm not lobbying for the Chiefs to take at # 1 but rather some team will take him in the 1st and not the 2nd Rd as I first thought.

TBH, that long neck is just troubling to look at, but may come in handy as he is able to see the field better.
