On a hit during their MNF game against Cincinnati.

Ugh. Looked bad on the TV.
|
Money isn’t worth the injury or long term health problems.
|
Looked like - hopefully it’s temp. He never moved his legs after going head first

****ing $tealer$ down 10-0. I need them to win tonight to win the pool.
Figures the one night I'm rooting for the one who sucks the peniss they shit themselves. 4321 |
Very sad if it comes out as bad as it looked.
|
Kids, don't tackle head first.

When I was 25 I got tendinitis in my patellar tendon so I had to go to the doctor to see a sports medicine guy. She put her hands on my knees and said, "oh my gosh! You have arthritis! You're too young for that!" That's a long way from paralyzed, but all the ****ing whining those guys do about waking up in pain and shit I already have, so I'd take the money and buy myself a combine. |
hard to watch
|
He wasn't remotely close to being motionless. He was wiggling around and grabbing his back with his arms.
Looked like a bad stinger to me. |
His legs did not move at any point in the video. I'm fearing the worst
|
Did he get the JJ watt WWE play by play and helicopter following the ambulance?
|
I know it's completely irrelevant to the situation in terms of magnitude, but this effectively ends the Steelers' chances of a Super Bowl. He was as valuable as anyone not named Ben, Brown, or Bell.

could have just been from his roll - Regardless - best wishes his way.

Pretty much did everything you shouldn't do when hitting somebody.
It's bad luck. |

All it takes is one drunk driver |
The leg just flops over when he rolls.

Brady owns them |

CTE, bad knees, bad back, etc etc I wouldn’t allow my kids to play. It’s not worth all the problems. |
He's a Squeeler. Will be fine.
|
If I recall, that dude leads with his head all the time.

It wasn’t bad luck as much it was inevitable. |

Good luck to the guy. It's just a game. |

Millions of people have life long issues from car wrecks. That is nothing new. |
Quote:
I don't know if it's enough to get CTE, but I got hit by a semi my freshman year of college and while my belt was on, my head hit the post for the door and I definitely had a concussion. I was too dumb to realize it then, but I do now. |
You figured they would run screaming for the hills if he had movement in all his extremities. Instead they have no further comment. Looks like the worst, but I don't know much about back injuries. Hope he can get back to 100%.
|
Quote:
Of course when they're 55 they may regret it, but 22 year olds aren't broken down 55 year olds yet And yes, car accidents can cause paralysis. And unlike the modern NFL, death |
That's the risk that happens when you are a cheap shoter. Hope he's ok though..
|
It's possible he may be able to move his legs someone in the future (think months, years) but right now it looks pretty bad.
His career is likely over |

This is exactly why players are trying to get paid after 3 years in the league. People bitched at OBJ about it but this shit can happen at any time.

Looks like he straightens his left leg out at one point after rolling over.
I'll remain optimistic for his future health. I ****ing hate the Steelers but this dude has alopecia IIRC. He's already had a rough go of life. Also, this sort of thing happens frequently but I feel like it almost never turns out as bad as it could. I think the last nasty back injury I saw tha actually lead to something serious was that little Bears WR. Johnny Knox, I think. Good Lord, the way his back bent was unnatural. I think he walks with a permanent limp now. |

Now Joe Mixion is hurt.. looks like he is out...
|
Rough game tonight. Another injury time out as I type.
Looking forward to hearing Shazier doesn't have some life-altering injury. Geez. |

No biggie. Brainless Marcellus, everyone... |

The Bills had it happen to one of their players (Kevin Everett) about 12 years ago but he recovered and can walk |

|
Whew... he's ok....some scary hits tonight..
|
It looked like Colbert was telling Tomlin that Shazier had no feeling in his legs and he just got transported to a level one trauma center.
|
Example 1 why you don't lead with your head.
I hope the paralysis is temporary and he has a full recovery. |
Level 1 trauma center. ****, man.
|
Prayers to him and his family...
|
I hate the squealers but I certainly don't want this to be the case. I prayed for the brother.

Fun fact: NFL players can get work comp benefits.

Guess I'll use this as the PIT/CIN gamethread.
That Steelers defense doesn't look so rough now. Alex Smith just needs a fourth crack at 'em! |
All they do is Chuck it deep to Brown and draw bogus flags. Joke of a league.
|
They lost arguably the best player on that Defense and watched him probably paralyze himself. Uh yeah, I can see why they are soft tonight.

Hopefully feeling returns but I just watched it and he had that confused reaction that you see in people who have injuries and become paralyzed. So sad.
|
Quote:
Hopefully its just compressed and he can walk in the future... Going to be tough to ever play again probably... Prayers, hate to see it, even if Steelers... |

He never moved below the waist after the hit.
|
Quote:
Sad deal on a hit that looked benign. |
It was weird when he rolled over on his arm and struggled to get it out from under him
