Ugh. Looked bad on the TV.

In58men 12-04-2017 08:02 PM

Money isn’t worth the injury or long term health problems.

RobBlake 12-04-2017 08:02 PM

Looked like - hopefully it’s temp. He never moved his legs after going head first

Very sad if it comes out as bad as it looked.

They're getting blown out tonight, odds are they checked out mentally after the injury.

I'd do it.

When I was 25 I got tendinitis in my patellar tendon so I had to go to the doctor to see a sports medicine guy. She put her hands on my knees and said, "oh my gosh! You have arthritis! You're too young for that!"

That's a long way from paralyzed, but all the ****ing whining those guys do about waking up in pain and shit I already have, so I'd take the money and buy myself a combine.

Rudy tossed tigger's salad 12-04-2017 08:07 PM

hard to watch

Marcellus 12-04-2017 08:07 PM

He wasn't remotely close to being motionless. He was wiggling around and grabbing his back with his arms.

Looked like a bad stinger to me.

RunKC 12-04-2017 08:07 PM

His legs did not move at any point in the video. I'm fearing the worst

Reerun_KC 12-04-2017 08:07 PM

Did he get the JJ watt WWE play by play and helicopter following the ambulance?

pugsnotdrugs19 12-04-2017 08:08 PM

I know it's completely irrelevant to the situation in terms of magnitude, but this effectively ends the Steelers' chances of a Super Bowl. He was as valuable as anyone not named Ben, Brown, or Bell.

You can get paralyzed while riding in a car.

All it takes is one drunk driver

Sassy Squatch 12-04-2017 08:10 PM

The leg just flops over when he rolls.

What about the long term effects?

CTE, bad knees, bad back, etc etc

I wouldn’t allow my kids to play. It’s not worth all the problems.

Pasta Little Brioni 12-04-2017 08:13 PM

He's a Squeeler. Will be fine.

Millions of people have life long issues from car wrecks. That is nothing new.

Yeah. Definitely. Lots of people have F'ed up backs from car wrecks. My knees are shit anyway.

I don't know if it's enough to get CTE, but I got hit by a semi my freshman year of college and while my belt was on, my head hit the post for the door and I definitely had a concussion. I was too dumb to realize it then, but I do now.

Sassy Squatch 12-04-2017 08:16 PM

You figured they would run screaming for the hills if he had movement in all his extremities. Instead they have no further comment. Looks like the worst, but I don't know much about back injuries. Hope he can get back to 100%.

Some people don't care to live a real long time if it allows them to be a high profile football player

Of course when they're 55 they may regret it, but 22 year olds aren't broken down 55 year olds yet

And yes, car accidents can cause paralysis. And unlike the modern NFL, death

Pasta Little Brioni 12-04-2017 08:17 PM

That's the risk that happens when you are a cheap shoter. Hope he's ok though..

Best22 12-04-2017 08:21 PM

It's possible he may be able to move his legs someone in the future (think months, years) but right now it looks pretty bad.

His career is likely over

Maybe so, but he was extremely valuable to their defense. Fastest LB in the league, he could run sideline to sideline with ease and was fantastic in coverage. If they did have any chance, he was going to be a huge part of the solution.

There’s also fame, high profile connections, free high level education, millions of dollars to set up your family. People play football because they are assholes and love physical play. I’ve read where you get arguably just as much injuries in soccer well as far as concussions go I believe. All physical sports are risky on their own right.

RunKC 12-04-2017 08:25 PM

This is exactly why players are trying to get paid after 3 years in the league. People bitched at OBJ about it but this shit can happen at any time.

ThaVirus 12-04-2017 08:27 PM

Looks like he straightens his left leg out at one point after rolling over.

I'll remain optimistic for his future health. I ****ing hate the Steelers but this dude has alopecia IIRC. He's already had a rough go of life.

Also, this sort of thing happens frequently but I feel like it almost never turns out as bad as it could. I think the last nasty back injury I saw tha actually lead to something serious was that little Bears WR. Johnny Knox, I think. Good Lord, the way his back bent was unnatural. I think he walks with a permanent limp now.

Very rare for NFL players to get this terrible injury. I can think of two defensive linemen from the 90s (Lions and Jets), and of course Daryl Stingley

The Bills had it happen to one of their players (Kevin Everett) about 12 years ago but he recovered and can walk

Example 1 why you don't lead with your head.

Only reason I knew that is because Kroenke was such a scumbag he tried to force the workmans comp benefits to stay in Missouri even after moving to LA. We have some of the shittiest workmans comp in the country.

Guess I'll use this as the PIT/CIN gamethread.

That Steelers defense doesn't look so rough now. Alex Smith just needs a fourth crack at 'em!

Pasta Little Brioni 12-04-2017 09:02 PM

All they do is Chuck it deep to Brown and draw bogus flags. Joke of a league.

BryanBusby 12-04-2017 09:03 PM

They lost arguably the best player on that Defense and watched him probably paralyze himself. Uh yeah, I can see why they are soft tonight.

It's bad luck.

Except lead with his facemask or shoulder instead of the top of the helmet. You teach see what you hit tackling to protect the tackler, more than the ball carrier.

Sad deal on a hit that looked benign.

SAUTO 12-04-2017 09:20 PM

It was weird when he rolled over on his arm and struggled to get it out from under him
