How do bots make it past the rigorous ChiefsPlanet security measures?
 

Occasionally on my favorite website of all time, www.chiefsplanet.com, we get a visit from a bot. They typically seem pretty harmless, and can be spotted from a mile away with their unique posts.

How is a bot able to register and then actually start posting things? It seems like it would be difficult to program a bot to go through all that trouble just to make a suggestion about meeting sexy old women in Spainin Scho's thread.

Maybe it's not that difficult? :shrug: Anyone care to explain?

It's not like our security is all that rigorous. We check new users against a list of spammers by IP address and email address. They have to click a captcha and click the verify email address.

We dump thousands per week (maybe even per day), but some get through from time to time. It's just not enough to warrant worrying about when, as you said, they're super easy to dump once they manage to post.

I'm not actually trying to give any shit to the system and the security measures.

I think I'm more curious about how difficult it is to actually create a bot that can post on a message board.

If I had to guess, I'd say they get past the Google Captcha system using a click farm, then feed it into a posting bot. Not really sure, though.

Plug up the flexor valve with 30 weight ball bearings and that should do it

They are even programmed to chat in online poker these days

They get nuked pretty fast.
