Vic Fangio goes full reerun
Good job saying the absolute worst thing a HC in the NFL can say on a day like this. Optics here are horrific. Broncos PR is already feeling the heat LMAO
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Vic Fangio: "We're a league of meritocracy. You get what you earn I don't see racism at all in the NFL. I don't see discrimination in the NFL."</p>— Andrew Mason (@MaseDenver) <a href="https://twitter.com/MaseDenver/status/1267944235258413056?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">June 2, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |
LMAO
While I’m over the “NFL is so racist” narrative, this is hilarious. |
Incredible ROFL
|
Amid nationwide protests over systemic racism and police brutality that were brought to light once again by George Floyd’s death last week, Broncos coach Vic Fangio said Tuesday, “This is a societal issue that we all have to join in to correct.”
“I was shocked, sad and angry when I saw what the policemen did to a handcuffed George Floyd on his stomach that led to his death,” Fangio said in a prepared statement during a Zoom conference with the media. “(Minnesota police officer Derek Chauvin) should be punished to the fullest extent of the law for the crimes he has been charged with, in addition to being charged with treason for failing to uphold the badge of the uniform he was entrusted with.” Fangio’s remarks came on the heels of a pair of team meetings earlier in the day in which team president Joe Ellis urged Broncos players to use their platforms to speak out against racism and discrimination, adding that the team had a responsibility to do so. https://www.denverpost.com/2020/06/0...wide-protests/ |
Holy ****

5-11 at best.
|
Good Lord, why come out and say that especially now
|
He's not wrong but ROFL
|
If the Broncos were a meritocracy, you'd think they'd have had a better quarterback over the past few years.

Denver Broncos I'm pretty sure. |
Riley Cooper says hi Vic!

What’s the issue?
|
Regardless of your opinion of what he said, this was an EXTREMELY ill-timed/tonedeaf comment. Not smart at all.
|
|
Chiefs defensive coordinator in 2022?
|
You should be able to say these things....and not lose your job. But lets see. They'll be a mutiny because the fickle mob will attack. Just watch. It will be sickening.
|
Roughly 80% of your players are black. There was just a motion to give a team more draft incentive for hiring a ****ing black coach bc the rule they put in place before wasn’t working.
Saying this, especially today, is really really REALLY ****ing stupid. The players won’t be forgetting this either. |

Meritocracy?
How do you explain Matt Cassell? |

This is bad news for the Chiefs. Now the Broncos won't be coached by this idiot. They might get someone competent now.

Denver’s “woke” fan base isn’t gonna like this.....

"You get what you earn"
Remember, when you see someone say this, the answer is always: "Matt Cassel made $65 million dollars in the NFL." |

John Elway is jerking off to that statement. |
Goes full RT?

Fangio lost the locker room with that comment

If you can’t say something PC, don’t say anything at all.

Getting swept by the Chiefs, yet again- and missing the playoffs, will doom this idiot to the unemployment line.
We are literally going to bitch-slap them up and down the field. Again! |

Garrett Bolles has a roster spot. Does that scream meritocracy to anyone?

What am I missing here?
|
So just to be clear, the poster used the term "reerun" in the title of the OP to make fun of a coach who he thinks is lost on the concept of discrimination?

whether he really believes this or not, what an awful time for a statement like that.... wow.

He should be fired but I hope he isn’t.
We need more head coaches like him in the AFC West. LMAO |

This guy is getting lit up for this but I agree with him. The best players play, the best coaches coach. Get over it

It's possible that Eric B is a bad interview.

The NFL is no different from your standard office environment. The boss has their favorites. Employees viewed as "team" players play above others based on contract, money or relationship to the boss or the team/company. People move on because they feel/have been mistreated, underpaid etc. The American military since it was forced to racially integrate has embraced the concept of meritocracy. It is the closest to a meritocracy that's ever existed and its not a true meritocracy. |
So what's the endgame for the NFL? How many black coaches and black upper management members are required? Is there a target number?
|
Bieniemy leads an offense to historical records and a Super Bowl. One of the best resumes an emerging OC can have.
Nope gotta hire this 37 year old QB coach who failed as OC before after 1 year and had to go back to college. But he gave Sean McVay handjobs in LA! Great hire Bengals. Look where that got you |
Why do people assume Bienemy wanted the jobs he interviewed for or that he didn’t decide he wanted another year of learning under Reid?

Whoops my bad - Vic Fangio

Always funny when an old white guy says he doesn't see any discrimination. Of course you don't, dummy, you're not experiencing any!

He should make a third statement tomorrow that says, "The NFL is astoundingly racist. It's the most racist thing I've ever seen. You could not possibly believe how racist it is."
Y'know, just to see what the reaction would be. |
I'm glad Bienemy hasn't been hired because that means we get to keep him. The guy is a great motivator and a player's coach. Always enjoyable listening to his press interviews. Teams out there are plain dumb and hire unproven coaches. I would be more upset of losing Bienemy than Kafka.

But that is also his best selling point, too. He knows the system and how to implement it. I think it depends on who's doing the hiring what they think about how that will translate to their team. I'm not going to say there is no chance he hasn't been hired due to racism. The people that do the hiring are likely going to relate more to someone of their own race, and almost all of the billionaire owners are white guys. They just need to be aware of their potential bias going into things. Just like if I went and tried to get a job at a 90% black owned business, I would expect there would be some inherent bias towards me. How could there not be? We are not all the same. We relate to each other based on socioeconomic, cultural, and other social factors. Race really isn't even a big part of it IMO, it's those socioeconomic, cultural and other social factors that cause the bias. Such is life. I will say at least with 95% of business, any bias or "racism" isn't done with intention of evil. It just happens. It's something we need to fix, though. Definitely. |

I’d bet money the majority of the NFL players take a knee for the national anthem this season. The NFL and teams won’t say shit this time.
