Unlocked Phones for Verizon?

Someone at work was telling me there are now a handful of phones that can be purchased from 3rd parties and activated on Verizon's network. The best right now being the Motorola Nexus 6.

Does this mean that pretty much any CDMA Nexus 6 I can find to purchase online can be activated on Verizon or are there still some that cant? Does anyone have this phone on Verizon's network and if so how do you like it? I'll be switching from an LG G3, will there be a noticeable difference?

That's complicated. Nexus 6 comes in 2 types. One supports GSM and CDMA, but the other only supports GSM. Verizon is CDMA. The GSM version won't work at all.

On top of that, at one time it was limited only to Nexus 6 models that were purchased via Google Play. On top of that, if it shows up and a non-Verizon phone, you may have to change your existing plan.

Best to ask a Verizon rep first....

I'll just stick with this G3 I guess. After some research it appears the Nexus 6 really isnt any better and many say the G3 is better.

Was thinking about the Moto X PE myself. Works on Verizon.

What Fish said is correct. Simply because a phone is "unlocked" does not necessarily mean it's compatible with Verizon, unfortunately. Just FYI any phone purchased thru Verizon is factory unlocked automatically and thus will work virtually on any carrier in the world
