Will you ride the world's tallest water slide?

SCHLITTERBAHN

It could take a while to climb the 264 steps to the top of the new water slide at Schlitterbahn.

It won’t take that long to get back down at 65 mph or so.

The Verrückt — German for insane — will be the tallest and fastest water slide in the world when it opens next year at the Kansas City, Kan., water park.

Read more here: http://www.kansascity.com/2013/11/19...#storylink=cpy

Here’s a view from the top of the Verrückt water slide. You’ll have to climb 264 stairs to see this in real life. (More pictures in link)

I will ride it.

I will also shit my pants.

Katipan 11-20-2013 08:20 AM

yes yes yes! Just counting down the days!

Reerun_KC 11-20-2013 08:20 AM

Hell to the yeah...

This 210lbs old man could get some serious speed on that. I would probably break something but it would be fun as hell.

And that's why you use swim diapers. Awesome that they befouled the park because they likely had to close it down for the rest of the day.

Yes I'm bitter. My kids had a day at the waterpark ruined by some dumbass parent who didn't put their kid in a swim diaper.

Eleazar 11-20-2013 08:33 AM

If it were single person slide, that would be sweet.

The whole "ride a raft down the slide with 3 other people at 65 mph and then go up a 5 story hill" thing just screams "Lift off!" to me.

There is a reason why they strap you in, lock you down, and make sure the cars are secure on the track on a rollercoaster.

The middle one in this picture is kind of scary. When you get in it looks like you are just going to fall off of the edge. Then when you go out the water kind of shoots you out and you lose contact with the slide, which is somewhat unsettling. Then you quickly lose momentum and you stop before you even get to the bottom pool.

Luckily, with the speed this ride produces, that shit will be chasing behind you throughout the ride; just make sure you swim away quickly once you're done. :thumb:

mdchiefsfan 11-20-2013 09:55 AM

I don't trust that second hill. Not. One. Bit...

nychief 11-20-2013 09:57 AM

shouldn't the ledges be a weep bit higher? Seems like you could catch one at that speed and be air born.

I'm actually relieved to know that it's actually a "coaster" in that you're strapped into a vehicle that (will presumably) be fixed onto the "track" in some way. Otherwise, it seems like a death trap.

Nope. Four person inflatable raft. 65mph. With a ramp.

Just inflate a raft, set it on top of your car with four people in it (no need to tie it down) and drive to Schlitterbaun. It is just as safe and a whole lot cheaper. And no stairs to climb.

We all have different tastes, but I think that NYC is one of the coolest places on the planet. You can walk around the city and everywhere you look you see references from American culture, whether it's Alexander Hamilton's grave or Seventh Avenue or Central Park or Bleeker Street. Times Square, Broadway, the Empire State Building ... NYC is cool.

Hell yeah I'm going to ride it. Backwards. That's right. I will swim up the slide in about 12 seconds flat.

Rain Man 11-20-2013 04:31 PM

If I was going to do a market segmentation of Chiefsplanet, I think that the desire to visit New York City would be a very telling variable. I bet it relates to a lot of other attitudes.

I bet there's a white paper in here somewhere.
