Game 16
|
Yes.
|
For me it was the Hunt TD at New England. The incredible plays before that were all great but that's when I knew he had the fight in him if things get tough.
|
The Baltimore 4th down conversion ended up being huge, we lose that game we don't lock up that 1 seed
|
I got robbed. I picked the 50 td to robinson and the 49ers scramble pass to conley, the 50 to robinson was my 1
|
Game 4. Denver. Mahomes to Harris.
That's when I knew this guy was just a gamer who was always going to exceed realistic expectations. |
we need gifs of all of these
|
The throw to West where his body was contorted like a crash test dummy.
|
Week 1 vs. Chargers.
TD pass to Sausage. That's when I knew the kid could do ANYTHING. |

Gosh, it's so hard to pick. It's like being Donald Trump deciding which genitalia to grab at the Miss Universe pageant.
Here are my top three. 1. (Miss Finland.) The SF touchdown was the moment that I fully embraced the "we have a legit franchise quarterback" belief. The LAC and Pit games were great, but not sufficient to start seeing the pattern. 2. (Miss Venezuela.) The long NE pass to Tyreek at the end of the New England game. I knew then that even when the refs and all of the odds were against us, we still had a chance. 3. (Miss South Korea.) The 4th & 8 pass against Baltimore. Those are the plays that we've never made before, when we didn't have a franchise quarterback. Honorable mention to the no-look pass in Baltimore. (Miss France.) |
Baltimore 4th and 9. Came out of friggin nowhere and I seriously thought we were going to lose that game.
|
Left handed pass.
It was after a tough first half. My buddies were giving me shit for mahomes not being as advertised. That pass turned everyone on a national stage into a believer. Including von Miller. |
After the 3rd and 13 yd pass for a first down in the 1st Charger game. It wasn't a checkdown, a crumble into the fetal position nor a 4 yard dump pass. I knew then Smith was truly gone and we finally had a game-changing QB.
3rd & 13 at KC 11 (2:54 - 3rd) (Shotgun) P.Mahomes pass deep right to T.Hill to KC 45 for 34 yards |

What about Miss Singapore? |
Quote:
Oddly, Miss Singapore is probably short, and so is my next favorite play, which is the short casual pass against the Chargers. Patrick Mahomes II just ambled out to his right and was so casual that it almost looked like the play was stopping. Then he flippantly tossed a touchdown pass. |

It is close between the left handed pass and the 4th and 9 against Baktimore. The 4th and 9 is how I voted.
|
too bad it was preseason, but the 70 yards in the air to Hill was when I knew we had something really really special.
|
4th and 9
The 75 yarder to Hill against the Rams is up there, though. It was cinematic, almost. |
The left-hander for me. I know it doesn't even display his arm talent but we already know he can make freaky throws. The improvisation with Von Miller all over him to get us a critical first down on the road in Denver blew my mind. And it helped that it was against Denver.

All of them.
Here is one. Browns game. The pass to Kelce was one of the most cinematically beautiful things I have ever seen. Epic. |
I almost spontaneously combusted over the throw to West.
It the most visceral, pure reaction to a play I've had in years. I lost control of all mental faculties and became a babbling idiot. A transformative moment as a Chiefs fan. |
Here’s an underrated one. The TD he threw to Harris in Oakland.
He rolled to his right and threw it back across his body to Harris. The ball was down and away in the only spot where Harris had a chance and the DB didn’t. |

4th and 9 was pure Mahomes Magic.
|
Tough choice, but I have to go with 4th and 9. I thought they were going to lose that one, and I definitely didn't think the pass was going to be complete when he threw it. Just legendary magic.

4th and 9 is the winner, though.

The 4th and 9 was great, but we still had to score a TD, so that muted my reaction somewhat.
I had the biggest reactions this year to the West TD, the bomb to Tyreek against the Rams and something that's not even on this poll, that long pass to Harris to get us inside the red zone against the Broncos in Denver. I really thought we were going to lose that Broncos game and when he saved our ass I think I felt better about this team than I've felt in a long, long time. |
All of them
|
I'd love to hear the Mitch call on this play - just reading it you can feel the excitement of the call.

Actually I may have been more excited for that 4th down TD.
What a year. |

Hard to pick just one. It has been such an exciting ride.
|
SF game rolling to his right hit the WR in the back corner pf the EZ..threw it through a 2x2 window
The Kelce catch against the Browns. but the sidearm laser TD to Tyreek in the opener against the Chargers brought me out of my seat and i knew it was ON. |

The play to Conley against SF was the one where I was like “ok...this kid is the real deal”. Not that he didn’t demonstrate it prior, but that was just another level to me.

The announcers call during the SF scramble was amazing. That play left me totally jacked. Actually, the whole PittsBurgh game did for Mahomes.

4th and 9 is the one for me!
|
Something about that very first sling to Tyreek Hill against the Chargers was just pure sex. But the Ravens 4th down throw had me the most fired up.
|
Everyone gets love in this offense but I particularly liked the TD pass to Sherman was money and in stride. Maybe it wasn't most spectacular but it did show we can do whatever we want on offense.

The one? He’s done it tons of times. Better be more specific. LMAO |
That game 13 4th down conversion did no way get me pumped. It scared the **** out of me. LOL

Every time he does something like that, it's like the scene in Gladiator where Russell stabs a dude with two swords and then rips them out and cuts the guy's head off with both of them meeting at the neck.
ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED |
That TD throw to stonehands(or Conley?) in the Oakland game where I thought for sure was an interception in between about 4 Raiders along the way was a thing of beauty. Even the announcers were like interce.....TOUCHDOWN..I think it might have been Ian Eagle. Not saying the most fired up moment just a wtf did i just see moment.
|
The greatest thing is the total surprise from announcers who've seen everything. Some of the calls were great.
Thom Brennamans "are you kidding me" might be one of my favorite calls of all time. I also loved nantz's giddy schoolgirl call on the 4th and 9. "hill has it. He came back for it." Meanwhile tessitores call on the left handed throw. I don't know why that annoyed me. |

While the pass against Baltimore was more important, getting to witness some history in his 50th was the big one for me.

I know the longer developing plays have their own merit, but the first one to tyreek as Mahomes gets hit, in real time that play and especially the throw is so fast, accurate, under duress. I remember looking at my wife and sons and saying we finally have a real quarterback, I think we can win a Superbowl with this dude. Sort of set the tone for me.

4th n 9. But the Conley td against sf is damn close.
|
The snaking, twirling, zero footed, physics defying, angled bullet pass to Conley in the back corner of the end zone will always be a play I remember until the day I die. To me, that pass was Mahomes saying "The Chargers and the Steelers games were not flukes, I'm here to stay MFer."
But the 4th and 9 pass to Hill, against that defense, is the best pass this season, because there was something on the line, at home, under pressure, while trailing, knowing that we needed to win to have a chance at HFA. It not only displayed his ridiculous talent, but it showed his heart, and his leadership. But, isn't it awesome that he has had so many great passes, or plays, that there really is no clear answer? We need #MVPM2 to break the home playoff curse, and the playoff losing streak to Indy, in a bad, bad way. I hope next Saturday night we are trying to decide which TD pass was the best in our home playoff victory. Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk |
The 49ers scramble left me in awe. But for pure emotional outburst, it was the Baltimore 4th down to Hill. I live in California, the game wasn't in my broadcast area, so I had to go to the sports bar I like. NFL sports bars in California aren't like sports bars in KC where almost everyone is a Chiefs fan. It is a smorgasborg of NFL transplant fans for the 10am games (that's noon to you guys). Pittsburgh tends to dominate these scenes, but those guys began to fall off as this season went along. I was amazed how many Browns fans show up to these things. THAT is a loyal fan base. They were there all season long even before Mayfield took off, and they were a lot less arrogant and more fun to talk with.
Anyway, I'm there in with my huddle of strangers/new friends wearing Chiefs gear and there are Baltimore fans (yeah, I couldn't believe it either) at the other end of the table. One of these new stranger/friends is this 50 to 60 year old woman who is obnoxious and loud as hell. Always screaming "Come on, Chiefies!" As the game moves into the 4th, things are going worse culminating in the Ravens' go ahead score. We get to the fourth down play, she's drunk and in a commiserating mood with the Raven fans while I'm in dejected disbelief at how we let this game slip away. She slaps me on the back and mutters, "Well, you can't win 'em all!" Doing my best not to snap at my fellow Chiefs fan, I give a half-hearted, they still have a play left, let's not throw in the towel yet." Even as those words are leaving my mouth, I have no conviction in them. I was dreading having to congratulate the Ravens fans on their win. The Browns fans, who I have bonded with since the Week 2 takedown of the Steelers and going nuts over their late game roller coaster in their eventual win over the Broncos, are also keeping an eye on the Ravens. The ball is snapped, Mahomes is immediately flushed, and it just looks like there is no hope on the play. He heaves it across his body back towards the middle of the field, and I'm just waiting for another Marcus Peters like interception to end the game. And then I see it... a streaking Hill breaking into open ground and makes the catch... I was screaming at the top of my lungs "Oh my, God... Oh my, God... Oh my God!!!" The Browns player next to me was watching his game, puts his hand on my shoulder and says, "What happened?!" I couldn't even speak. I just pointed at the monitor dumbfounded as the replay came on. And then he repeated, "Oh, my God!" Everything after that felt like it was inevitable. I know the fourth down TD pass was an amazing throw itself, but I had no doubt they were going to make it. It wasn't until later when I watched the replay analysis that I realized how tough that throw was, but it didn't have the emotional impact the earlier fourth down play had. I've watched enough Elway led comebacks where it seemed like we had him on the run, victory within our grasp, only to watch him throw some long bomb to move the chains and rip our hearts out. This was the exact opposite of that feeling. From that point on, I knew we had the QB who would be ripping out hearts. That's why I know we are going to win this weekend. |
The no look takes the cake after seeing him replicate it on his first attempt.
To be able to recall all the intricacies of the play from the rush, the formation, and the expected single coverage to the adaptation and execution of the play demonstrates a level of understanding that most vets never attain. Mahomes is the real ****ing deal. |
