WTF is going on with iTunes?

I just logged on to the iTunes music store for the first time in several months and everything is different, and all I see that is available for purchase is entire albums. Can I not buy single songs on there anymore?

They still sell single songs. There are some bands that require the whole album to be purchased, but not most.

Pink Floyd won't let you buy singles.

I've searched several different artists, some that I've purchased singles from before, but none of them show any now. I have to be missing something.

Try Weezer. I bought "I'm Your Daddy" just this evening and it worked.

This is what I am seeing now, there used to be a "buy song" button by each individual song.

Maximize the app. Think it's over on the right.

First it was Inglourious Basterds...

Then it was Facebook...

Now iTunes...

We're slowly going backwards in time...

They have a nice racket going with that album shit - pay $10 to download a bunch of crap for a single song you want. Soundtracks are good for that. The song "I Love You" by Climax Blues Band is featured in that Zack and Miri make a Porno movie. I heard it on the radio about a year ago and remembered that I liked it, and tried to download it. Well, it's gone from Climax Blues Band's greatest hits, even though it was probably their biggest song. You can only purchase it by buying the ****ing soundtrack, which I will never do. I check every now and then to see if they've changed it, as far as I know, they haven't.

I'm one of those people who actually thinks pirating shit is wrong - at least until greedy shit-sucking corporations like Apple try to nickel and dime everybody with crap like this. I guess I'll download the song for free at some illegal site and they can kiss my ass.

Oh FFS, I see it now, I moved the bar that separates the playlists and it is just barely showing now, apparently the new format doesn't fit my screen or something.

That's exactly what I thought was going on, there's no way in hell I'd ever buy an entire album for one song. I remember having to do that as a kid and it pissed me off because you really didn't have any other options back then.

The thing is, I'd happily pay the 99 cents or $1.29 for it. But $10 for one goddamn song and a bunch of shit I won't ever listen to? This isn't 1975, you money-grubbing bastards. I don't have to put up with that crap anymore.

What I don't get is how it's a good business decision from their side. I have to think they could sell that one song 50 times for every 1 time they sell the whole album. Since it's all electronic copies - wouldn't it be better to sell one song 50 times?

Doesn't make any sense to me, either. Seems like all it does is offend and alienate their customers. I guess the distributor of the soundtrack album pays them to do it, but I don't really see how anybody involved could make enough money to justify it, especially the original artist.

I wish there was just a way to send the actual band members my $1.29 and tell the Apple scumbags to go die in a fire.

It's not any different than DirecTv forcing you to buy there programming packages in order to get the Sunday Ticket, as if they're not making enough money by charging you the $300 or whatever it costs these days. Well guess what, they're not making a single cent off of me now because of that.
